Cons:

The room smelled like cigarettes and was right next to the bar so was noisey. Bathroom was not clean. Old and tired.,

Prima voor kort verblijf.
Pros:

Ontbijt ruim voldoende. Vriendelijk personeel. Goede warme douche met kracht. Verzorging kamer uitstekend, elke dag schone handdoeken. Dank voor het 1 malig ongevraagd bed verschonen, Blij dat ik in januari 2026 had geboekt dat scheelde meer dan € 350,- als ik veel later had geboekt. Voor ons kamerprijs € 310,- bij boeken (zonder toeristen belasting, zonder ontbijt + late check-out). Later dit bijgeboekt en was het uiteindelijk € 451,50 voor 3 overnachtingen. Voor vertrek 11 mei prijs gecheckt voor standaard budgetkamer en die was toen al € 756,- zonder toeristenbelasting en ontbijt. Dus deal.

Cons:

Bij het inchecken werd er niet gevraagd naar onze identiteitsbewijzen. Opvallend. Ontbijt helaas de koffiemachine deed het niet goed. Bij keuze cappucino stroomde het kopje over maar dat gebeurde ook bij grote glazen. M.a.w. niet goed afgesteld. De melk voor de cappucino was koud zodat ook de bereide cappucino koud was. Ook andere gasten zaten daar mee te knoeien. Vandaar maar de kan gewone koffie gepakt die was tenmiste wel warm. Te weinig personeel, geen merkbare aansturing. Het aanvullen miste wat bij 't ontbijt. Het was traag of meestal niet. Ontbijt tot 10 uur maar kwam je om 09:30 dan geen gesneden brood meer, jam op e.d. Verder viel op dat er niet werd geregistreerd als je binnenkwam voor het ontbijt. Dit gebeurde maar 1 x op onze laatste dag (14 mei Hemelvaartsdag) toen werd er naar de kamer gevraagd. Onze Kamer nr. 14 is beneden en grenst aan een jeugd faciliteit m.a.w. veel geluisoverlast tot laat. Raam dichthouden hielp niet echt. Van de lift direct naast onze kamer hadden we geen last.

Pros:

It was regarded as a budget room but had everything needed for a short break. Whilst it was a smaller room it had a large double bed, wardrobe, tv, etc.

Cons:

Everything was very good, no complaints.

A very nice hotel in the beautiful city of Ghent
Pros:

The hotel has a marvellous location near the centre on the river and both our ground floor rooms had a view of it and were very quiet. I was spoilt by an upgrade to a non-budget room, but my friend was perfectly happy with her budget room. It was great to have a kettle to make tea as well as a coffee machine. The breakfast (in a light and airy room on the third floor) was excellent, with lots of choice, including a good range of fresh fruit. Immediately north of the hotel are a number of very nice restaurants (featured in the 2026 Gault-Millau restaurant guide) which we would sample on another occasion. All the obvious sites were within easy walking distance. We took a taxi to the fine art museum (which is a long walk from both the hotel and the railway station) and worked our way back to the hotel.

Cons:

When we arrived by train, We discovered that the station is a building site without adequate signage to either the pedestrian exit on the ground floor or the taxis which are on level -1. A Ghent resident directed us to the ground floor exit where we found a tram which dropped us a 20-minute walk from the hotel. If you cannot find the taxis, it might be quicker to walk: use 'Ghent River Hotel' for Apple and Google map navigation purposes.

Pros:

Muy bien situado, habitación amplia y cómoda! En el baño dispones de gel, champú, acondicionador y crema hidratante. Puedes guardar tu equipaje antes del check in y después del check out sin coste adicional. Para tocarnos planta baja no se oía ruido.

Cons:

Por poner alguna pega nos tocó planta baja y menos intimidad.

Heerlijk verblijf paar dagen
Pros:

Goede bedden, heerlijke regendouche, uitgebreid ontbijt dat steeds werd aangevuld, de ligging van het hotel echt vlakbij de vrijdagmarkt en de winkels.

Cons:

De temperatuur in de ontbijtzaal: het was er best warm.
Er wordt veel gerenoveerd dichtbij, dat hoor je wel maar was niet storend.

Construction site ,nocturnal construction site .
Pros:

Lovely location, central to everything, lovely friendly staff ,manager was a professional 👌

Cons:

I did nt like the construction of a five storey building being built from 5 a.m ,that's not a typo ,5 in the morning ,neither booking.com or ghent River hotel informed before our stay .Unacceptable.
One day before breakfast the room we were in was shaking violently, I looked outside and saw the biggest machine digging footings for the new building immediately adjacent to our room ,it was unbelievable really. Have dozens of videos, this was 720 am ,this continues for our 4 days stay .
Booking.com refunded a measly 116 ,hotel refunded nothing. I would nt use booking.com again or ghent River hotel.
