It’s a beautiful hotel. Rooms were lovely.
I was overcharged $300 AUD for a 1 night stay. I had booked with booking.com and quoted an all inclusive rate only to be told that had added some fee to it that amounted to $300 extra for 1 night
I had my young daughter with me and it was 35 degrees outside so I didn’t feel I could move to another hotel.
Also our room wasn’t ready until 4pm with check in at 3

Unable to use pool as all loungers taken everyday
The Hotel exudes class in ways that the flashier -and far more expensive- places catering to the Dubai set cannot hope to achieve. Reception and bar staff were wonderful and the room received excellent service. A very large beautifully furnished top-floor room facing the rear of the hotel and Milan's skyscraper district, It came with a large bathroom and nice antique-style furniture, excellent free wi-fi and all modern comforts, except, bafflingly, for a kettle/coffee-maker. the remote-controlled shutters and heavy curtains offer total black-out and exterior noise is not an issue.
The hotel bar and restaurant are both beautiful and the latter is acknowledged in the Michelin guide as one of Milan's better eateries. The beautiful main bar is well hidden next to the concierge desk, while if the lobby bar is the all-day alternative even if decor-wise its nothing to write home about
The rooftop Spa offers a very big gym, a large pool and jacuzzi tub, as well as a small sauna and steam-bath and, importantly, a wonderful veranda to sit after working out and, this being a pretty tall building, admire the cityscape.
The Principe is a 15 to 20 minute walk to the Duomo/Scala and the adjacent fashion shopping area but offers a rare for hotels, invaluable and very frequent shuttle service. The city's metro and regional rail network operate a very big and well-served station with an exit only a few steps from the hotel. The luxury-hotel-lined square on which it is situated is also conveniently about 10 minutes on foot from the railway station, but never once felt unsafe even during late night post-dinner walks.
The lack of coffee/tea making equipment in the room was something of a surprise in this day and age but as far as the room goes there can be no other complaint even for this class of hotel. Concerning the spa, the pool may be big but the sauna and hammam are on the smaller side The main gripe however is the brightly lit all-white, pretty cold and clinical decor, more in the style of a sanatorium than a luxury hotel...
