The main house
The rooms are a bit outdated
Location was perfect
Tired and needs a bit of a revamp. Not the hotel areas but the disabled access bedroom definitely
I had an evening meal with one drink. When looking at my bill the following day I discovered that they charged me for 2 drinks. The rather tatty welcome pack in the room says that they will try to accommodate an earlier breakfast normally 8. I asked for 7:45 so that I could get to the office but was turned down saying we don't do that.
The room was amazing, really beautifully decorated and a great size. The bathroom was amazing. The area was really quiet and being above a bar, it closed at 8.00 pm so no problems at all. They stopped serving food at 4.00 pm on a Sunday and we arrived just before then, but they fed us and the chef put on a really lovely meal, which was really appreciated and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast the next day was really good too and included in the price.
Being such an old building, the floors were creaky and uneven and upstairs, the person above us seemed to be up and walking around on the squeaky floorboards at 4.00 am which disturbed us a bit.
2nd visit to this hotel, the hotel is exceptionally dog friendly. The room is set on a courtyard with table and chairs outside. We booked Sunday lunch which was really really good. Really enjoyed the breakfast too. The location is so relaxing and peaceful.
We went for a walk and the pub had shut at 8.30pm ( it was a Sunday) we didn't wish to drive anywhere else. That is the only negative.
Lovely friendly and helpful staff, excellent food and great location to reach all the local attractions
Unfortunately the curtains weren’t lined so the room was completely bright at 5am and woke me up.
Great location near, but sufficiently away from the main, expensive 'Cotswold Drag'. The George offered clean, comfortable, well equipped sleeping accommodation, and varied and pleasant outdoor seating and and internal dining spaces. As promised, the English breakfast (and the continental breakfast), were outstanding, as were the staff.
It was a pity that the evening meals did not match the rest of the experience. The prawn pil pil was oily and under-seasoned, although the prawns were well cooked. The same could not be said of our other two fish dishes, which were overcooked. This may have arisen because no one appeared to be running the pass at the kitchen, whose staff, consequently, seemed to lurch from one calamity to another. In view of the excellence of the breakfasts, perhaps this was 'just one of those days' which we all experience from time-to-time.
Delicious food. Friendly service. Pretty spot and lovely walks. Charming garden and fun decor.
Fantastic breakfast
Lovely rooms ..but very warm
Very pretty courtyard gardens
Didn't like the fact the optional service charge was included on our restaurant bill and weren't made aware of this until we had paid.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. They ensured that we were looked after during our stay.
The room was immaculately clean and the breakfast was excellent. However, I do think a childs option for breakfast would be a good addition to the menu, such as cereal or pancakes.
We also had our evening meal in the restaurant and it was amazing.
Absolutely nothing.
Comfortabel, fijne kamer en badkamer (wij hadden de zolder). Sfeervolle Inn.
Geen gezellig dorp (in de omgeving wel genoeg moois).
Staff were all great, the pub itself is lovely and the Sunday lunch was superb.
The mattress was so uncomfortable that myself and my wife were in angony by the morning and barely slept at all. The mattress was so thin.
The breakfast was ok but toast was black on the underside and tasted burnt.
Real shame as it started so well. Nothing a new mattress can't sort and a closer eye on the toast. The bed is such an important element of the stay though.
Everything was perfect with a peaceful location , beautiful spacious dog friendly room and the Inn itself with great food plus superb breakfast
