Pros:

Predivna lokacija, jako udobni kreveti i jastuci, odlican doručak, vođeni fitness, ljubazno osoblje..ma sve ! Stvarno opustajuće iskustvo, vratiti cemo se i dogodine.

Nice hotel with friendly staff, but questionable value for money in terms of HB and meal quality
Pros:

The staff are the real champions, very friendly, supportive, and attentive! The location is also really good, very close to the beachfront. The hotel is overall nicely designed / refurbished and the view from the room was quite nice.
"Flexi" option to take either lunch or dinner as the second meal in half-board, with no fixed hour (anytime from 12:00 to 22:00 pm), it really gives a lot of flexibility in planning daily meal options. It was nice to have complimentary soups and salads every day. The breakfast was good and rich in offer.

Cons:

We booked the half-board option, at least that is what we tought. The hotel actually "subsidies" the second meal (either lunch or dinner) with a daily budget of 30 EUR per person. For us it was never sufficient to have a proper meal (e.g. 3 courses + drink) without additional payment. The portions are very small, or modest in size at best. Average price of one main is around 20 EUR. If one wishes to have a dessert + drink, the cost easily creeps up to >40 EUR. HB for us means having a 3-course meal with at least one drink. Therefore we really felt the HB option at PLACES Valamar is falsley advertised.
Secondly, the quality of meals was average at best. Most of the meals were bland and neutral in taste, only few of daily specials were good, but then again the sizes were very modest. We do have to compliment the desserts - they were exceptional!
Thirdly, the use sunbeds on the beach in front of hotel is charged 10 EUR per guest per day, which is ridiculous! They advertise the beachfront as if it's part of the offer, therefore we arrived with expectation it's free to use for hotel guests.
And at last - one of the waiters charged us a tip without asking, we have noticed it only later on the invoice. Such behaviour is unacceptable and Valamar should know better.

A warm welcome set the tone of our holiday. Plenty of areas to choose to relax in the sun. Clean and comfortable.
Pros:

The waterfront position of the hotel. Very comfortable beds. Great breakfast.

Cons:

The small rooms are very small.

Incredible and relaxing place!
Pros:

The place is incredible. The staff is lovely all around. The outside area is the best part hands down. The room was good, bed was good, the bathroom you can notice is a bit dated and "small" but for us it wasn't a problem at all.
Sunbeds are the best.

Cons:

The location itself is beautiful, is just a bit outside of the city of Stari Grad, not that is a bad thing. Just when you are getting there you usually falls into getting a taxi car, which it isn't necessary once you realize inside the hotel that there is a taxi boat straight from the Ferry port, for 3-4 euros, instead of the regular taxi. Which the hotel could be saying as a selling point for when you arrive via ferry.

Loved it. Would love to stay again.
Pros:

Brilliant location in a stunning setting. The staff were phenomenal! The hotel was clean. Plenty of activities, entertainment, brilliant breakfast.

Cons:

The food menu throughout the day could have been rotated so there was more choice.

Brilliant overall - with a minor tweak of having essentials to buy on site.
Pros:

Outdoor area in general. Beautiful pool with places to sit. Downstairs dining had a great ambience and breakfast was excellent.

Cons:

Lack of accessibility to a shop to buy essentials such as personal hygiene products on site. Water taxis were great into Stari Grad but needed planning

Tolle Anlage, aber nie wieder das kleine Zimmer
Pros:

Direkt am Strand, schöner Pool, nettes Personal, sehr sauber. Super dass man die Halbpension wahlweise konsumieren kann

Cons:

Zimmer Größe S sind derart klein, dass man keinen Kasten, keine Möglichkeit hat die Koffer abzulegen und das Bad is mehr als klein und sehr alt.

Exceptional
Pros:

Relaxed outstanding service at every turn. Lots of really nice surprising touches.
Felt down to earth and luxurious. The breakfast was exceptional. Love that they do free soup and salad twice daily. We really made good use of the €30 per person daily to spend on anything. We made good use of the the spa and gym facilities by the sea edge. The daily poolside dj was a nice touch with great tunes!
Although a 4 star hotel I would say it feels in many respects like a 5 star.

Cons:

We did have a struggle with the hotel taking payment via booking.com. There was a lot of effort via email to resolve this. In the end we paid at the hotel and to compensate us for our extra effort they took off the cost of my wife’s massage. Another example of outstanding service upon departure.
Evening meals could do with further consideration, perhaps a bit more variety, in particular options with chilli and prawns. I think it would be good if at least one night was a dj night. Would be good to have more evening entertainment; some nights it was diarised but didn’t happen.
