Clean, comfortable with friendly staff
Pros:

Stayed here whilst doing the coast to coast so the pub was very well located . Basic, clean and comfortable with very friendly staff

Cons:

Live music immediately under my room until midnight was a pain but on a Bank Holiday perfectly understandable and pubs have to work hard to make a living

Great location, good place to stay if walking C2C

Great location for the C2C. Spacious room with good shower. Good food and lovely staff

Coast to coast
Pros:

Location - accommodation in Shap is limited. Other places serving food was limited. Functional and needed on the coast to coast walk.

Cons:

Had a family room with "ensuite". Actually had an allocated bathroom on the corridor that was treated by all other guests as communal. Continually having to wait to use our own bathroom.

Some dinner choices came out as completely different meals without mention beforehand.

Pros:

Perfect for a coast-to-coaster. Lovely clean, warm rooms after a long, wet walk out of the Lakes. Had a great Steak and Ale pie and a pint in the pub. Breakfast was a lovely spread, having picked my choice of a Full English on checking in. Highly recommend.

A lovely welcoming stay with super friendly staff. They even listed back a pair of gloves I left there! Amazing 🤩

A wonderful comfy bed and warm shower — perfect after a day running the coast to coast.

Good honest clean and friendly country hotel, I recommend it.
Pros:

Friendly basic hotel in an English village. Comfortable, clean and well-ordered. Will be staying again on trips to and from Scotland.

Cons:

A chair in the room would have been useful! Also, a brighter bulb in the bedside light (I took off the lightshade so I could read my book). Small points though., Otherwise, a great place.

No breakfast available , no reduction in price offered !
No mention of no breakfast when booking in , we only found out when enquiring what time it was in morning as we retired to bed
