Açai Plant Based Hotel

Onze grootste teleurstelling was het eten. Het ziet er goed uit, maar de smaak is zo teleurstellend. Droge boterhammen, taaie ongekruide tofu en het vieste dessert (blueberry cheesecake) dat ik ooit heb gegeten. Ik had op voorhand laten weten dat ik glutenvrij at, en dit zou geen probleem mogen zijn vertelde ze mij. Dit delen ze ook op sociale media. Eenmaal aangekomen kreeg ik een diepe zucht en stond de serveerster letterlijk met haar handen in het haar en wees ze geïrriteerd enkele gerechten aan, die bij de aankomst bestelling toch gluten hadden. (hierna ook ziek geworden!). Het eten was zo slecht dat we ervoor gekozen hebben om niet meer naar het ontbijt en avondeten te gaan omdat het zo een teleurstelling was. We hadden erg uitgekeken naar een vegan restaurant, maar ik kan niet geloven dat de kok ooit vegan heeft gekookt of zelf geproeft?!
Het personeel was erg onbehulpzaam en op sommige momenten gewoonweg grof en onbeleefd wanneer wij bij aankomst vroegen wat ze ons kon aanraden op het eiland zei ze "I don't know, you can just Google it.". Ook bij het vragen om het boeken van een taxi kregen we een vies gezicht terug en werden we genegeerd en de rug naar ons toegedraaid.
De kamer was oké maar sommige dingen waren slecht bevestigd zoals de wc rol houder die uit de muur valt. Erg oncomfortabel gebobbeld matras met een extreem klein kussentje om op te slapen. We waren blij toen we weer thuis waren...
Kortom een mooi plaatje op instagram, mooie reviews, maar in het echt een grote teleurstelling. Bespaar je ongeluk en maak niet dezelfde fout.

The staff is excellent, the location is excellent, relatively very clean.

There is no big wardrobe

The lack of a communal relaxation space, except the restaurant. Would have loved a bit more varied breakfast, including more protein-rich items

- Breakfast is just one menu, we couldn’t choose and they mostly served bread-based food. We would’ve appreciated more options to pick from, possibly also healthier food like overnight oats, porridge, yogurt, granola, etc.

- It would have been nice to have beverages, or water at least, openly available, at some point we felt like we had to “beg” for water.

- They literally served 2 preselected tea bags and two coffee Nespresso capsules each morning.. we would’ve liked to have non-machine coffee, maybe even ask for a cappuccino, decaf, latte, or whatever, and choose our own tea flavors.

- No one was ever at the reception, we had to ask the kitchen staff for everything. It didn’t feel like there was a single point of contact for potential problems. What if we had a problem in the middle of the night? For a “luxurious hotel” for which we paid 200.- a night, we expected it to be better organized.

- While we enjoyed our room a lot, there were no consumables: no toothpaste or toothbrush, no slippers, not even water in the fridge.

- On the first day the staff told us we shouldn’t sleep with our windows open because of mosquitoes, we were left wondering why there were no mosquito nets installed?

- We were looking forward to also have dinner at the hotel, and we did on our first night. While the menu looked very fancy with plenty of options, the portions were not so generous and the prices were quite expensive. They could have at least given a discount for hotel guests?

- Back to breakfast, it was served from 08:15 to 10:00, this is a very short time span. We didn’t feel like we could go out and fully enjoy our nights because otherwise we would’ve missed the breakfast entirely. It just felt wrong to set alarms during our vacation. We can also imagine that some people would want to start their day earlier than 08:15.

- Checkin was from 15:00 (normal) but checkout was at 10:00, why? I can’t remember having to checkout this early from any hotel.

Il materasso è basso e troppo soffice e risultava quindi non troppo comodo.
Suggerimento per la colazione: per evitare sprechi in caso qualcosa non piaccia, si potrebbe dare la possibilità di far scegliere in anticipo.

Small things in our rooms seem to be suffering wear and tear such as the toilet roll holder being broken, and the soap dispenser had fallen off the wall. No serious issues but certainly some minor repairs required.

Поради еко съображения, не се прави почистване всеки ден в хотела. Тъй като това все пак е остров и основно хората посещават плажове и тн, щом няма почистване всеки ден, нека има поне моп или метла, за да може всеки да има възможността сам да почисти някои основни неща, особено след плаж (пясък например).

I feel bad to critisize these nice people, but since the price was so steep, I need to explaine.
Baisically, there was no pampering, only essencials. For instence, we only got 2 coffee capsules for 3 nights, which was not good, because we love coffee. The breakfast was interesting but fixed, not many choices (like no eggs and no capuchinno, only esspresso). There was a little bit of sea view from the balcony, if you look between the houses. There were a lot of surprising little steps I was afraid to fall on, etc.

Would like to have had sone extra toiletries e.g. hair conditioner, body lotion etc. Bath robe would have been a nice touch too as this is a boutique hotel.
