I understand that Sun Inns Hotel Skudai is a budget hotel, and I did not expect luxury or high-end facilities. However, my experience was still far below what I reasonably expected from a hotel.

The check-in process was through a self-check-in vending machine, and the security deposit had to be paid in cash only, which was inconvenient. Someone later came to provide the towels in a bag.

The room had several issues:

• The access card did not operate the room door, so we had to use a traditional key instead.
• The air-conditioning was not functioning properly. I eventually managed to fix it myself using some basic technical knowledge.
• The television had no signal.
• Bedsheets were only in average condition.
• No drinking water bottles were provided.
• No kettle was provided to boil water.
• No toothbrush or toothpaste was provided.
• The washroom was not properly cleaned and felt slippery.
• There was also a leak in the washroom, with water continuously dripping.

Another major problem was the noise. A group of two people were standing and talking very loudly outside until around 1:00 AM. It was extremely disturbing and made it difficult to sleep.

The check-out experience was also disappointing. A staff member was sitting at the entrance and collected the TV remote, air-conditioning remote, access card and key. He then asked about the towels. When I told him that the towels were in the room, he asked me to go back up two floors to bring them down.

Honestly, this was quite unreasonable. Housekeeping could simply have checked the room after the guest checked out instead of asking the guest to go back upstairs just to return the towels.

I understand that this is a budget hotel, but basic cleanliness, maintenance, working facilities and reasonable customer service should still be provided.

Overall, it was a very uncomfortable stay.

This is budget hotel, so the price suit the hotel.
