Disappointing; had been really looking forward to a treat but room skylight marred experience
Pros:

Period charm

Cons:

Our room had a uncovered dome skylight. We were staying in the summer and it got light early and disturbed our sleep.

Poor
Pros:

Excellent location

Cons:

Rooms on the 3rd floor in the attic. No elevator. A/C out if order. Too small windows to make ventilation. Extremely hot, even with 14°C outside at night. Rain shower in bath without curtain. No fridge un the room. Room wasn't cleaned yet at 15h30. Then we occupied it for 2 hours but they didn't come back. Understaffed

stay at judges lodging
Pros:

The city centre location is brilliant and close to the station. The beds were very comfortable and the facilities were alright. I think the milk service thing they do is good, and although we didn't eat there the food looked nice and the outside seating had a nice atmosphere at night.

Cons:

We stayed in the ground floor disability access room and the accessibility could definitely be better, some things were placed high up which someone in a wheelchair would not be able to reach. It is also extremely noisy and hard to sleep, not because of the noise from the city but late night deliveries right outside your room etc.... But I would still say it's worth the money just bring really good earplugs and an eye mask because it is also very bright outside from the lights in the main hotel building that shine through the blind.

Schönes Hotel aber viel Lärm drum herum
Pros:

Zimmer und Bad sehr groß, Lage top, Frühstück und Abendessen sehr gut

Cons:

Es war bis nachts um ca 2 Uhr oft sehr laut von der Straße her und ab 6 Uhr kamen Lieferanten vorbei und haben so viel Lärm gemacht, dass man schon wieder wach wurde!

A charming choice during cooler weather
Pros:

It's in a perfect location in the old town for walking to the Cathedral, Museum, and Gardens, and it is a charming period building with a pleasant pub and good breakfasts. Our room included a sofa seating area (but no desk).

Cons:

Rooms are not air-conditioned, and it was a blisteringly hot July weekend, and while the nights got cooler, our room didn't because we could only open the windows a tiny bit. Also, we could not get any cold water in the shower, so we had to take hot showers! Parking and the train station are both across the river, which is somewhat difficult with suitcases, so all in all, if i'm in York again, I would book a modern hotel across the river.

I wouldn’t stay here again would stay elsewhere.
Pros:

The location is good although noisy from the very busy beer garden at the front of the hotel.

Cons:

Room size, very small no where to do hair and makeup, dirty room, rubbish from previous visitor under the bed, no hair conditioner or body wash left in the shower. Some areas of the hotel looked shabby and need attention. We paid £275 for one night with breakfast, which is fine but not with all of the issues.

Pros:

The room was beautifully decorated and we loved the bar and breakfast

Cons:

It was hot; our room had direct sun and the window only opened a few inches. It didn’t cool much at night

Judges Lodging is comfortable and friendly and in an ideal location to explore York.
Pros:

The location was ideal, the building was stunning, the room clean and comfortable and the staff were professional, helpful and friendly.

Cons:

We were in room 15, Dick Turpin, which had disabled access. The room was lovely but the location wasn’t ideal. It was on the ground floor away from the main hotel entrance and was quite noisy. We heard what sounded like deliveries and also staff going in and out a staff entrance nearby both late in the evening and early morning.
