Great service friendly staff.. perfect location
The attention to details is fabulous and all the staff are amazing.
Clean, comfortable bed, hot water, good location.
Several issues: one was a huge mix up of food bills. We were three friends staying who each had own room and booked separately. After charging several meals to our rooms we were approached by multiple staff saying there was a missing billing. When we requested details they presented us, quite rudely, with a stack of mismatched and some incorrect receipts. The inference seemed to be that we should work it out between ourselves rather than them getting the right charges attached to the correct rooms/people. In the end it was sorted, but it was an unpleasant experience. If the hotel staff cannot get charging to rooms correct or manage split bills at a table, then they should say so and not offer that service. Hotel needs a better system for managing this.
Also, we requested that the loud music in the breakfast room be turned down or off. The other group of people in the same room also requested this. We were told it was some sort of regulation to have it on and basically ‘no’..and in a very curt and unfriendly manner. One person in the other party commented that the ‘attitude of the staff here is appalling’!
One of our group had a flooding issue in her bathroom, resulting in her travel bag getting soaked. It was obvious that the problem had been occurring for some time or repeatedly based on stains. She was told they could not fix it soon and just put towels around it to sop up the water. As compensation she was offered two free glasses of Prosecco. She might have been able to move to another room but not until very late in the day and we were only staying one more night so moving would have taken more time away from our already short visit with each other.
Overall, the place itself was pleasant but the staff needs much training in how to approach and best serve customers.
Historical building with modern facilities. Outstanding
Everything was prefect the service was exceptional even the facility for milk was prefect. Wish all hotels did this.
Friendly and helpful staff, Breakfast was great
Nothing !
Great rooms and service
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
We stayed in one of the courtyard rooms, with disabled access. The room was very spacious with a large walk-in shower. The bed was very comfortable.
There was some noise from people walking down the street late at night, but that's to be expected for a hotel in a central position. The location of the courtyard, tucked behind other buildings, meant this noise was kept to a minimum.
Excellent location for sightseeing and shopping. Very comfortable room and bed. Cosy and homely. The breakfast was wonderful- a host of choices and cooked beautifully
Staff serving breakfast were not as professional as I would wish. They rolled their eyes when asked for the black pudding which had not come with our meal. A small but preventable blip in an otherwise excellent stay.
The Judges Lodgings were exceptionally comfortable.
The young lady working on reception when we arrived was exceptionally helpful and kind.
Breakfast was outstanding.
The only very small niggle was that we were at the top of the building up lots of stairs and we are both in our 70s with mobility issues. I didn't realise when I booked it that the room would be so far up lots of stairs. We also asked for a quiet room and the party goers outside went onto long into the night.
The floor tiles in the bathroom were cracked.
We would also have liked some indication on what type of coffee was in the coffee pods for the machine.
Location was fantastic and the hotel was welcoming with excellent rooms food and atmosphere
Nothing
Excellent, great selection
The staff staff were very friendly, although a little inexperienced. The room facilities very good and comparable with the quality of the room. Even though it was busy outside it was quiet in the room. Despite the lack of parking the hotel is in a very good central location
There should be a deal for more secure parking. Adding the Marygate Parking fees makes the room even more expensive.
There should be better quality food in the restaurant; burgers honestly? It shows that it's a hotel run by a pub chain, it doesn't know what it is.
Breakfast was nice, restaurant/bar area was nice and the location was excellent. Room was nicely appointed and clean.
Air conditioning didn’t work properly and there were no instructions so the room got very hot during the night. Bedside reading lamp was faulty. I didn’t like that the room was across a courtyard so had to walk through the rain to get to and from the main building.
