Pros:

Great location, spacious rooms and excellent facilities specifically free coffee, Teas and snacks throughout the day. The wine tasting was also excellent.

In general, we were very pleased and would return to The Pearl.
Pros:

The location was wonderful, just off Broadway and close to the theaters and subway stations. The room was comfortable.

Cons:

Breakfast was OK, but we thought it would be better. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not (too thick).

Injury caused by unsafe bed frame and poor follow-up
Pros:

Cons:

I stayed at The Pearl Hotel for four nights and, unfortunately, left with an injury that I believe could have been prevented.


On my very first night, I got up to use the bathroom. The room was only dimly lit by the bathroom light. As I walked back to bed, my left leg hit the sharp wooden corner of the bed frame, which sticks out well beyond the mattress. Because the mattress is white and the frame is dark brown, it was very difficult to notice the corner in low light.


The impact caused a deep cut to my shin, resulting in significant bleeding. I had to stop in the middle of the night to clean and bandage the wound, and my sleep was completely ruined.


The next morning, I immediately reported the incident to the front desk and showed them photos of both my injury and the bed frame. To the hotel's credit, they quickly sent a maintenance technician who installed rubber corner protectors on both exposed corners. While doing this, we noticed that the opposite corner already had a clear plastic corner protector, while the corner that injured me had no protection at all.


An official Guest Incident Report was completed and signed by hotel staff. I also have photographs documenting the injury, the bed frame before and after the repair, and the incident report itself.


Unfortunately, this is where my experience with the hotel took a disappointing turn.


What disappointed me was not the accident itself, but what happened afterward. At first, the hotel seemed to take the matter seriously. The Front Desk Manager, Teresa Garita, personally told me that the hotel would refund my Facility Fee (about $137) as a goodwill gesture.


I accepted the offer not because of the money, but because I believed it showed that the hotel understood this was more than just an unfortunate accident. I hoped it would encourage the hotel to check whether the same bed-frame design exists in other rooms and fix it before another guest gets hurt.
