Bedrooms tired, no shelves or wardrobe

Honestly, I don’t understand the lower ratings/reviews of this place. We’ve been on a road trip through Sri Lanka and, despite this having the lowest rating of all the hotels we booked, I would say this is easily the #1 place we’ve stayed so far. Key highlights:
* The location! DREAMY. We walked up and down Nilaveli Beach for hours and, while there are other beach resorts, not one feels quite like this. Very, very few guests, AMAZING views of the sea from your room and the pool, and a private beach… There isn’t even a fence between the pool and the beach, so it just feels like one flows into the other. It honestly feels so exclusive. We FELL in love with the whole area. And if you walk along the beach for a few minutes, you can find pretty much anything you want: kayaks, jet skis, boat trips to Pigeon Island, surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. So much to do!
* Their beach restaurant. Not only is it super cute with amazing vibes, but they also offer fresh fish and seafood BBQ every night. Oh!!! We were planning to go down to Trincomalee for dinner one night, but we just kept coming back to the hotel instead. We loved it! Their breakfast is also the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far — incredibly abundant and SO good.
* The staff. So attentive and kind! They really go above and beyond for their guests, always with a smile on their faces :)
The room was also super clean and well presented. Compared with the other 3-star hotels we’ve stayed in, this was far superior to any of them. TV, FRIDGE (!), working electrical sockets on both sides of the bed, comfy bed and pillows, and a perfectly good shower with good pressure and hot water.
Some reviewers complain about the maintenance of the pool, but the issue with the drainage covers around two edges of the pool is actually because the drainage hole was built slightly wider than the actual drainage grating, so if the covers move a little, they can fall down.
My only “complaint” is that I think it would be great if they could serve breakfast a little earlier than 8 AM for early birds like us who like to start our water activities early.
But honestly: you’re in Sri Lanka, staying in a 3-star hotel - not a 5-star luxury resort in the Maldives. Be fair with your expectations and your reviews!! This was a a DREAM STAY.
Right on the beach for easy access, all accom on ground level, staff very friendly, food options were great, the beach was lovely and peaceful, perfectly located pool overlooking the beach (without any street vendors or beggers handing around). Deepan the chef also went to great lengths to make special sri lankan breakfast specifically after discussing with us. Dinner seafood options were great.
There could be some live music in the evening which could add to the ambience
We absolutely loved the spectacular location. The beach was quiet with only a few beach beds and the beach bar (no music, just nature). The breakfast was very good, a lot of variety to choose from, as was the beach bar, however calculate around an hour for service time.
The service was very very slow, for anything really. The rooms in 3 nights there were never cleaned, not even once. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was open, the water was cold + low water pressure.

De hygiëne in de kamers liet te wensen over. De badkamers zijn gedateerd. Er waren mieren in de kamers. Prijs kwaliteit is niet in balans.
De locatie is geweldig. Privé stand met zwembad. De huisjes staan zo’n beetje op het strand. In de avond lekker bbq-en in het restaurant op het strand. Personeel is heel aardig, behulpzaam en doen echt hun best om je met alles te helpen.
De kamers en alle andere faciliteiten zoals het zwembad hebben echt een opknapbeurt nodig. Er is geen gasten toilet bij het restaurant en het personeelstoilet is echt heel ranzig. Deuren en ramen van de kamer sluiten niet meer, de badkamer stinkt naar riool lucht en alles is niet echt schoon te houden.

They are all things I can tolerate but want to make you aware of a few things that the hotel could greatly improve on which would make this hotel super and it wouldn't take much effort:
- get the staff working on fixing and maintaining the bathrooms and overall facilities when it is quieter during the day. They l seem to be lounging around a lot whereas the Manager could be assigning them purposeful duties.
- offer to clean rooms and supply fresh towels, water etc at least every second day.
- improve on their breakfast menu. The breakfast is the same everyday. It would be nice to enjoy variety every day.
- maintain premises and retile around the pool.
- invest in a proper coffee machine.
- improve on water pressure in shower.

The property is at an excellent location, right near the Nilaveli beach. It is extremely peaceful and perfect for a relaxed holiday. The staff is extremely helpful. Since I was travelling solo, they made sure that everything is taken care of and made it a good experience for me. The manager also helped to get me a safe and trustworthy guide for pigeon island snorkelling. Overall good experience.
