Great place
Pros:

We had a lovely stay at Coral Bay Hotel. The location is beautiful and peaceful, with the beach nearby. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We really enjoyed our stay!

Very overpriced and unhygienic
Pros:

The beds are very comfortable, air con works great, location on the beach is great and staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach sun lounger huts are great.

Cons:

The bathrooms are absolutely horrendous and in need of a urgent refurb. There was rat poo all over our bathroom. The staff did clean this instantly upon request but this should not have been acceptable for check in. The shower drain is not sealed so water washes back up this. This caused more noise/rat poo to wash back up every morning and the bathrooms smelt really bad. There is no toilet paper given in bathrooms.

The bar does not have much stock at all. All the spirit bottles are just there for decor, they are literally empty.

The pool is in a sorry state, the water is cloudy and has a funny smell to it.

The grounds are not very well kept at all and need daily maintenance.

Rooms are not serviced at all during your stay

The cost of the hotel is not worth it for the sorry state the facilities are in. If the price reflected the state of the hotel it would be fine but it is expensive for the state the place is in. If they refurbished the bathrooms and put some effort into maintaining the hotel this could have the potential to be a very good hotel.

Pros:

Great place to stay, location is perfect, right on the beach, Hotel has its own restaurant plus there are restaurants up and down the beach. Staff extremely friendly and helpful, I will stay here again next time I come to Nilaveli.

Beautiful Place and loction at bit of high price.
Pros:

The location was absolutely beautiful. And we had the dinner at their restaurant which was with the beach and food was super tasty and an at night view is cool.

Cons:

Room is not comfortable enough for the money we spent. Bath room door was broken. AC is not good enough to cool the room.
Also facilities are not good too.

Cons:

I would not recommend the restaurant - they wanted to sell us the fish for 10x the price it should actually cost, then the fish was bathing in garlic (2 days aftereffects) and service time was around 2 hours
room is rather small and the bathroom was a bit shabby

Hotel Coral Bay, Very chilled!
Pros:

Right on the beach ⛱️
And just a short beach walk to cafes nearby, so you had more choices for meals and drinks.
If you want to go further into town Uppervalli or Trincomalee for Supermarket goods OR more cafes /restaraunts then a taxi or tuk tuk is required.
Staff were happy 😊 and accommodating. And could not do enough for you.
The pool at accom. to cool us off after the Pidgeon Island 🏝 snorkelling excursions was welcomed We stayed for 3 nights and
It was a pleasant stay

Cons:

Cold water showers in the accommodation
But, I did get use to it eventually...
Many items listed on Booking.com website were not at the accommodation

Un cadre exceptionnel pour finir c’est vacances à la mer au Sri Lanka
Pros:

Emplacement avec la piscine qui donne sur la mer incroyable !
Pleins de petit restaurant le long de la plage
Très peu de monde la plage pour nous tout seul devant l’hôtel.
Chambre propre un peu vieillotte mais très convenable tout de même.

Cons:

Salle de bain moyenne mérite un rafraîchissement !
Peu de pression à la douche

PARADISE!!!
Pros:

Honestly, I don’t understand the lower ratings/reviews of this place. We’ve been on a road trip through Sri Lanka and, despite this having the lowest rating of all the hotels we booked, I would say this is easily the #1 place we’ve stayed so far. Key highlights:

* The location! DREAMY. We walked up and down Nilaveli Beach for hours and, while there are other beach resorts, not one feels quite like this. Very, very few guests, AMAZING views of the sea from your room and the pool, and a private beach… There isn’t even a fence between the pool and the beach, so it just feels like one flows into the other. It honestly feels so exclusive. We FELL in love with the whole area. And if you walk along the beach for a few minutes, you can find pretty much anything you want: kayaks, jet skis, boat trips to Pigeon Island, surfing, snorkelling and scuba diving. So much to do!
* Their beach restaurant. Not only is it super cute with amazing vibes, but they also offer fresh fish and seafood BBQ every night. Oh!!! We were planning to go down to Trincomalee for dinner one night, but we just kept coming back to the hotel instead. We loved it! Their breakfast is also the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far — incredibly abundant and SO good.
* The staff. So attentive and kind! They really go above and beyond for their guests, always with a smile on their faces :)

The room was also super clean and well presented. Compared with the other 3-star hotels we’ve stayed in, this was far superior to any of them. TV, FRIDGE (!), working electrical sockets on both sides of the bed, comfy bed and pillows, and a perfectly good shower with good pressure and hot water.

Some reviewers complain about the maintenance of the pool, but the issue with the drainage covers around two edges of the pool is actually because the drainage hole was built slightly wider than the actual drainage grating, so if the covers move a little, they can fall down.

Cons:

My only “complaint” is that I think it would be great if they could serve breakfast a little earlier than 8 AM for early birds like us who like to start our water activities early.

But honestly: you’re in Sri Lanka, staying in a 3-star hotel - not a 5-star luxury resort in the Maldives. Be fair with your expectations and your reviews!! This was a a DREAM STAY.
