Star Gaze Lodge

Overall we were really unimpressed and actually quite disappointed by the stay. While the room was decorated nicely, it is in serious need of some updating. The doors and windows leading out had been warped by the weather, and had multiple missing latches. Because of this, when it was warm or rainy, the windows would fill with condensation and leave a damp smell. You couldn't really have the curtains open often as the staff or other guests would frequently walk past. This led to the room feeling a bit dark and dingy. It is also incredibly small, the smallest place we've stayed in over 3 weeks in Sri Lanka, our two large backpacks couldn't comfortably fit and there was nowhere to unpack or get ready.

The bathroom door was cracked and in need of updating. The toilet and other fixings were loose and would move when being used. Water wouldn't evaporate or drain properly after showers and there was no squeegee offered which certainly did not help the damp issue. The hot water was very inconsistent, we usually had to turn it on and off 3 times to work, but pressure was ok. The window in the bathroom also did not close properly and the latch was broken. During our 4 night stay we had geckos, slugs and possibly even a leech at one point coming in due to this. That same window is completely see through and opposite a big construction project which has a direct view into the bathroom.

Whilst we were told about the dogs when we arrived and aren't adverse to them, the owner did warn us that one was unfriendly and we should stay away. This dog would bark at us when we would walk past and its barking continued until around 11pm. Seems a slightly odd choice to have a dog like that when you are running a homestay.

Even though I personally don't need my room to be often tidied or linens/towels changed, there was no offer of this during our 4 night stay. We've been in many properties for shorter stays and had this offered to us.

um ins Zentrum zu kommen musste man entweder 10 Minuten laufen (kein Problem) oder ein TukTuk nehmen (eher ein Problem, da kein Pick Me dorthin gefahren ist). Die Besitzerin hatte jedoch 2 Nummern, denen man schreiben konnte und dann wurde man doch abgeholt. Das Bad war an einigen Stellen schon ein bisschen abgenutzt.

Le foto purtroppo non rispecchiano del tutto la realtà della camera, che appare piuttosto datata e avrebbe decisamente bisogno di maggiore cura e manutenzione. A rendere il soggiorno più piacevole è sicuramente la vista, davvero molto bella.

Alcuni dettagli come ganci per asciugamani e struttura del soffione della doccia che non erano ben fissati al muro e rischiavano di cedere, siamo stati due notti e il secondo giorno non ci hanno rifatto letto/pulito la camera

Camera bella ma piccola, se avessimo avuto due trolley non so dove avremmo aperto il secondo

Everything was so lovely, I think a mosquito net around the bed would be useful so we could open the doors at night to allow in a breeze.
