Feeling like a King and a Queen
Pros:

Classic, colonial vibe and grandeur with eye for details, displays of local crafts, serenity and peace. Outstanding world class service delivered by all staff. Staying there for a few nights gave us the peace & quiet to recharge before visiting the bustling city and main features of Yogyakarta.

A hotel full of antiques and objet d'arts.
Pros:

Excellent breakfast, great pool, lovely balcony, great staff

Cons:

The gamelan was lovely but the man and woman didn't seem to play songs well together

Perfect base to stay in historical Jogja
Pros:

Great location for stays in middle of Jogja, base to explore the historical city and nearby attractions such as Borobudur and Prambanan.

Cons:

Small room of improvement - there was no master switch that could be use to switch off all lightings in the room, not a big deal actually but could be made into a great convenience.

Beautiful stay in the heart of the city.
Pros:

It’s a very regal place. Beautiful from the moment you step in.

Cons:

Little touches in the room would make a huge difference for example towels were very old, one was broken and fraying and one was dirty which was a shame.

Fantastisch
Pros:

Zeer uitgebreid en heerlijk ontbijtbuffet. Mooi heritage hotel. Geweldig personeel, zeer vriendelijk en professioneel. Dit hotel is echt een aanrader.

Cons:

Als je kiest voor een boetiek kamer met balkon dan is het wel even een stukje lopen.

A very average stay - not worth the money paid!
Pros:

Small but nice room

Cons:

Balcony was facing terraces of neighbourhood! Charging ridiculous amount of money for water - when it is rightly served free in the restaurant below!!(10,000 IDR for a 300ml bottle)
Gym was in a bad state and treadmill was not useable at all!

Very pleasant !
Pros:

It was a beautiful hotel and felt exclusive. The staff were all lovely and very friendly and welcoming . The breakfast area was lovely.

Cons:

The fact that people could smoke in the eating and drinking areas. Breakfast options for vegetarians could have been much better - the choice was not great at all.

The Phoenix is a lovely hotel with great service full of treasures to behold and decor to gaze upon
Pros:

Very happy with the room, the service, the friendly helpful staff and the breakfast. But the hotel grounds and facilities are a treasure trove of unexpected delights around every corner with antique furniture and artefacts and delightful decor to gaze upon.

Cons:

We stayed there twice. The first time we were placed in the old wing which was OK but the second time the room overlooked the pool which was a much nicer room.
