I think the room I was in was haunted
For people looking for non-meat options, this might be the best hotel in Indonesia. Most places have meats or sweets. Here you have great Javanese choices like gudeg (cooked jackfruit), kretec (which is made from cow-skin crackers, If I'm not mistaken, so be careful there), salad bar, egg station, and plenty more choices. Lots of sambal choices. A musician plays a gamelan mettaphone (a salon?). Indoor or outdoor seating. Service is great. Thanks Mbak Ghita who was really helpful, and Mbak Neras for helping me on a phone call. Friends say that the spa experience is top-notch.
The hotel is historic, whicih is great, but you might have to walk a minute more than you are accustomed to, to figure out the layout and to find your room the first time or two. My fridge was pretty historic too and couldn't keep things very cold, but it wasn't a problem. Any small techinical deficiency is offset by the beautiful place and the great service.

Très bon hôtel, avec un bon emplacement au calme mais pas trop loin du centre ville. Le petit déjeuner est incroyable, et les prestations de l’hôtel sont de qualités. Je recommande de faire un tour par le spa qui propose de bons massages.
