Lovely venue right in the countryside. Mark was incredibly welcoming and we were made to feel at home with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Room was incredibly comfortable and spacious. Drinks at the bar were a reasonable price and love they had local beers, gins and rums to try!! We had dinner there too and the food was great with loads of choice and portion sizes good. Room had tea and coffee facilities with plenty of supplies which was nice. Plenty of parking on site. Grounds were lovely as well.
Not so much a dislike, more minor feedback - a second bin would have been good near the tea and coffee rather than either having to carry teabags to the bathroom or keep moving the bin from the bathroom and back again. In the bathroom there was no towel rail - somewhere to hang a towel would have been good.
Lovely quirky old building.
Friendly and helpful staff
Good food.
A few minor issues in the older room we were in could be easily fixed, eg difficult room lock, poor shower draining.
Was lovely from beginning to end, called on route to check if we wanted a table for the evening allowed early access free to come and go with a lovely breakfast in the morning
The service from the moment we arrived was exceptional lovely welcome from Mark which continued throughout our stay.
Sam (think that correct name) behind bar was also excellent making sure we had everything we needed and bringing drinks out into the beautiful garden for us.
The evening meal, wonderful choice and excellent price for the great quality of meals.

The welcome. Quality and generous portions of food!
It was a bit tired.
Mark is a fantastic host and made us feel very welcome
The food is fantastic and reasonably priced
Location is lovely and the Barking buck is in beautiful surroundings
How rural it was and the owners were so welcoming. Rooms were lovely. Do need some tlc though.but did not affect our stay at all. Hospitality was fantastic. Food was out of this world. We will definitely be going back
No black put blinds on window so if not wearing a sleeping mask then can be up early. Lighting only one bulb was working and one missing
Lovely location and very peaceful. A very quaint building that made you feel welcome.
It just needed a little bit of tlc.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome. Mark is an incredible host who genuinely goes above and beyond to make your stay special. You can really tell this is a family-run business, and that personal touch makes all the difference.
The food was absolutely phenomenal!!! every single dish was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. I honestly couldn’t fault a single thing we ate.
Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The whole experience was perfect from start to finish.

The property was in a beautiful, quiet location, and very relaxing, the food was amazing a very good menu. Marks wife is a great chef cooking a few Asian dishes to perfection very popular as well busy place.
The breakfast in the morning definitely sets you up for the day. Good quality ingredients
Mark the owner and his staff were on call for anything we needed, can’t fault them at all.
The only negative I would say is the rooms are quite dated and could do with an update, however they were clean and the beds were very comfortable.
Could maybe do with some fans in the hot weather this weekend.
The location is great if you are there for only a couple of nights but there is nothing else within walking distance and you must drive about to other places which we knew and we’re happy with.
The welcome from the owners . What a lovely couple, mark and rose make you feel like family while giving the best service with amazing food. A lovely location within the fields, beautiful gardens, lovely conservatory and bar area with fire to relax . Bedroom was a good size with very comfy bed .
Bathroom/ shower small but it’s a country pub hotel
Extremely friendly staff, went out of their way to help.
I had a lovely evening meal too
The room felt dated and some broken handles on cupboards, bathroom dark and shower quite small however it that was clean and well presented.
Breakfast ok, but hard bacon, although the rest was nice overall.
