Omena Hotel Helsinki City Centre

Firstly- this hotel is not staffed, which would be fine if they were responsive and helpful via the telephone in the lobby which they are not. There are extremely long hold times and when you do get through to someone they are so unhelpful.

We found several bed bugs on our final night, which was extremely distressing, and had to wait for over 30 mins on hold in the early hours of the morning in the lobby of the building as no one was available to speak (whilst this was happening an extremely intoxicated man was trying to get our attention to gain access to the building - there is no overnight security for the building either- we felt really unsafe).

When we did get through, we were moved to a new room, which is the least they could do. This room was equally as dirty as the room we’d come from. Then we were told that the cleaners had checked the room and found no sign of bed bugs and asked us to submit photographic evidence. The rooms were filthy anyway, we found blood in our bathroom, hair on the walls and the bed frame and under the beds had not been hovered in months, so I question the bed bugs finding skills of the cleaning team.

It’s extremely concerning that the hotel is relying on incompetent housekeeping to detect bedbugs and if we had not insisted and provided evidence that we found them, this room would have been given to new customers without fumigation or extermination treatment. A true environmental health risk.

We sent evidence and then were accused by the staff at Omena of bringing the bed bugs in ourselves (see email attached)- we found 6 large adult bedbugs along with a few smaller nymphs- it would have been impossible for us to have brought with us and started a colony on a 3 day trip- absolutely ridiculous. My husband also reacted really badly to the bites, which we obviously did not bring with us, otherwise he would have begun our time in Helsinki covered in bites.

Por otro lado, el hecho de que la luz del baño nunca se apague... Tuve que usar una toalla para tapar el agujero de debajo de la puerta para dormir tranquilamente por la noche.

I think the building looks a bit old and somewhat worn out. It doesn't give a good first impression compare to when enter inside the room.

Очень хотелось прийти в отель и выпить кофе после долгой утомительной дороги. Но кофе не было. Это огорчило.

Toaletten är som i en båthytt, en modul.

Не смогли оплатить ранний заезд из-за технических проблем (карта другой страны ЕС не проходила), от этого не смогли заехать даже в указанное время (код на вход не срабатывал). Если бы не уборщик, вопрос решался бы неизвестно сколько, т.к. на телефоне с техподдержкой слушали музыку 15 минут. Отвечали на сообщения тоже не сразу. Очень странная планировка: кровать на входе. Свет в туалете включается автоматически, ночью это не очень удобно.

Aircon or a way to air the room would be have been a nice extra.
