We would not stay here again which is a shame as its location was perfect for us.
Pros:

The evening food was nice and well priced

Cons:

The room carpet was grubby and the heater was broken off the bathroom wall. I was charged for the wrong food and am still awaiting a VAT receipt for the rooms which had been entered as a requirement on the booking, requested at check in and check out, plus requests sent via Booking.com messages.

Perfect accommodation for a short stay when attending a local event.
Pros:

Breakfast was really good, a big portion and also and also a tasty vegan option. The Dillwyn was perfect for our one night stay. Comfy bed and an ensuite bathroom. Friendly and accommodating staff.

A great value stay with great food
Pros:

Although it appears to need a bit of TLC on the outside (letters missing from the name of the hotel, one side covered in climbers), inside it is a different matter…

To be greeted by your first name on arrival is highly unusual and makes you feel very welcome straightaway. The room was perfectly adequate - twin beds, bedside table, tea and coffee, TV (rather confusingly with both Sky and Smart tv remote controls) and shower/toilet (just be aware that the shower is electric and needs to be switched on by a switch on the wall opposite, which I mistook for an emergency cord!). There is also wifi provided by Sky Broadband.

There is a restaurant for meals with a full and varied menu (and bingo the night I stayed) and an amazing range of real value for money breakfasts, even including one with cockles and lava bread if you want the true Welsh experience. All the staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming.

And all this at a price which is a real bargain and very hard to beat, especially as it includes breakfast.

Super friendly blast from the past. For the money can’t beat it.

Old school, like proper old school boozer with rooms. Friendliness of the staff made the stay

The staff were very friendly and helpful and it was good value for what I paid.

Very friendly staff and excellent food. Reasonably priced.
Pros:

Really friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service in the bar and restaurant
The evening meal was really good with generous portions and very reasonably priced.
Breakfast was also very good and of generous size.
Location was ideal for us with a short drive to our final destination the following day.
The room was reasonable with ensuite and bed was comfortable.
Very reasonable room rate.

Cons:

Room decoration could do with a refresh.
Everything else was good for us.

Food, Bar and staff. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Easy parking.

Cons:

The condition of our bedroom, very dated and scruffy. In need of a complete refurbish.
The image you’ve shown is not at all reflective.
Poor quality bedding and towels. Inconsistent hot water. Mouldy shower dirty windows. Scruffy carpet to name a few
Bedding could have been ironed.
We stayed 2 nights without room servicing.

It's a shame that the standards are poor as the staff are hardworking and friendly .
Pros:

Breakfast was fine and the location was perfect as it was near to the venue of wedding we were attending.

Cons:

The twin room we stayed in was very dark with all four walls plus bedding being a very dark petrol blue colour.Given that the room was very dark the fact that the lighting was poor did not help matters.The paintwork was scuffed and chipped .The bedding was a poor quality and the mattresses were terrible.The shower tray had a lot of black mold on it.The room was overlooked by a main road and this was a problem on account of no blinds ot net curtains meaning that the main curtains had to be kept closed which did not help with the lighting situation.The carpet was also dark and badly in need of replacing as it appeared dirty and were sticky underfoot.
