The Pier Hotel

There was only one hand towel and one bath towel provided for two guests. We didn’t notice until late in the evening, so didn’t feel it was appropriate to contact the owner at that point.

The beds were extremely creaky and the walls were very thin, so noise from neighbouring rooms could be heard quite clearly. The neighbours weren’t being excessively noisy, but the sound carried a lot.

The doors also seemed difficult to close without being slammed, which caused some disturbance when other guests were coming and going. The curtain in our room was also hanging off at one end, so quite a lot of light came in early in the morning.

The pub downstairs was for students and it was karaoke night. There were singers both inside and outside of the pub and it was incredibly loud.

The toilet wasn't attached to the wall or the floor and the floor slopes so water splashed around when you sat on it. The shower leaked into a pool the middle of the room as the floor dipped.

Room table is not big enough for a laptop to work on and room could do with some general decoration.

The room was dark, dirty, damp, light flickering in bathroom, no television totally not as described. That bad we didn't stay an drove 3hours back homr

Website stated on site parking. There is no on site parking. Once inside room there is a note saying parking is on the church car park which is not helpful.
There is a bar underneath & on a Saturday night there is live music on until 12pm so bring your earplugs.

The noise was horrific from. The karaoke bar, people screaming and shouting outside. Noise eventually stopped around 3am. No one to welcome you on arrival. The key is just left in the envelope.on a desk. Main security door did not lock which meant anyone could get into the building. Not great!

Needs a lot of work

There were no staff, which is fine, but the side entrance was filled with litter, ill lit and not very inviting.
It should be categorically stated that there is absolutely no parking facility at the hotel, and better instructions given to where facilities are. I think on your website the parking box is there, but it is certainly not for the hotel.
I didn't care for the tilting toilet which was unstable and quite frightening. I accept that it is an old building but nevertheless it didn't feel secure.

Would have preferred a face to face check in.

When I booked it said parking was onsite. This wasn’t the case and the overnight car park was over 10 minutes walk away. I booked this hotel as it had parking.
Entrance was via alley at side of property where all the dustbins were.

Needs renovation quite badly, mainly paint and carpets were clearly worn out. Room could also have better lighting and ventilation.

Nothing it suited our needs !
