The Tarbet Hotel

The lobby and staircases smelled damp. Poor breakfast. Very little choice on the hot buffet. No mushrooms fried eggs or tomatoes and the bacon was pale and swimming in water. Shower difficult to get working at the right temperature. Washbasin chipped and cracked, room bland. Evening meal much overpriced and poor quality. Other than reception, service was underwhelming. Paid a lot for the room and it was overall very disappointing.

The place is dated, and you can see that they started upgrading bits like the restaurant and front of house, but the hallways, room and the lift, can definitely do with an upgrade. The service in the restaurant wasn't great, but they had a wedding on, so perhaps they were just understaffed. The food was completely overpriced. A steak dinner for two (with starters) came to £130, which is the same we paid for a truly unforgettable 3-course meal the previous night at a four star hotel in the Highlands.

However at the rear are very poor looking rooms over looking car parking and rubbish

Notre chambre donnait sur le moteur de la ventilation du restaurant . Heureusement que ça n’a pas duré toute la nuit , mais ça nous a gênés quand même !

Personalet er lite engasjert, vi ventet opp mot to timer på middagen før den ble servert, på den tiden fikk vi heller ikke spørsmål om påfyll i glassene eller noe service av noe slag.

Creaky floorboards in bedroom and mattress not too comfortable .

The receptionist was not welcoming. We got a room at the top floor above the kitchen exhaust ventilation, facing garbage bins and very messy back side, not at all nice as the front. Loud, smelly.... The room seemed like a spare room. They had a wedding party booked in, and this was spare. The shower was nonfunctional. Staff repaired it after a 20-minute plumbing job at midnight. Well done for the repair, but no apologies or any refund was provided for the inconvenience. No hair dryer, single bed cabinet, for twin bedroom... all in all, not a four star hotel accommodation. I am sure the rest of the rooms were better, but it is not fair to rent rooms like this at the four star hotel advert and price.

The evening meal was really bad. It was the worst value for money meal we’ve had in years. Huge disappointment for excited and hungry diners. Really let the place down. Complained but absolutely nothing was done to improve things. Just met with opposition rather than resolution. If you have to stay here, eat somewhere else would be my advice.

Las habitaciones son muy antiguas y le faltaba limpieza. El baño tenía zonas que no se habían limpiado nunca, la ventana de la habitación no cerraba bien y el somier estaba roto.

Stairs- too much luggage.

Kamers waren vies. Meubilair versleten. Sanitair werkte niet altijd.

Segurament el pitjor hotel on he estat mai. Instal·lacions antigues i gens funcionals. Corredors llargs, amb escales i multitud de portes, inclús el terra inclinat en alguns trams. L'ascensor mereix una menció especial, és cosa de veure.
Habitacions antigues, desmillorades i molt molt brutes (parets, armaris, làmpares). Teranyines i aranyes per totes bandes. I per les picades que ens han sortit al la pell, sospitem que a la moqueta devia haver altres insectes... Bany molt petit, ni tan sols pots obrir la mampara de la dutxa per a sortir perquè topa amb el WC.
Servei de neteja de les habitacions inexistent: varem estar dos nits i no ens van fer les habitacions (ni llits, ni banys, ni tovalloles ni res, allí no va entrar ningú a arreglar res).
Desdejuni molt roin. Els plats i els coberts estàn tots bruts, no hi tenen quasi varietat de menjar, només et serveixen cafè, ni tan sols et trauen llet calenta si la demanes.
El soroll d'un extractor dels salons de la planta baixa s'escoltava tota la nit.
Tot açò amb un preu molt elevat.
