Unpleasant receptionist, no food, poor quality

The location

The Receptionist was absent when we arrived, when she arrived at reception she complained about being overworked and was unpleasant and unhelpful. She told us we had no need to book dinner and could go in any time. When we went for dinner the staff - who were apologetic and helpful - told us there would be a 45 minute wait before we could order. We waited a while and then gave up and ate the snacks we had in our room. We saw about a dozen people being turned away in the time we were there. Breakfast is not served until eight o’clock and when we had it, it was poor quality. The drinks in the bar were basic - none of the more interesting beers or whiskies you would expect.
Our room was on the second floor, up five flights of stairs. There is no warning of this on the website. I am an 82 year old and there was no offer of help with taking the luggage up these five flights of stairs nor even a word of sympathy from the receptionist.

Lovely historic hotel on the banks of Loch Lommond
Pros:

Beautiful Historic Hotel. Free parking. Large room.

Cons:

The wait staff in the restaurant were very inattentive and I emphasize this.

Pros:

Hôtel decadente e fatiscente all'esterno e molto datato negli spazi comuni. Dignitose le stanze anche se i muri erano macchiati c'era un grosso ragno e le finestre erano sporche. Puliti e con l'essenziale i bagni. Presenti asciugamani puliti. Buon letto.

Cons:

Sembra quello della famiglia Addams. Colazione orribile acqua sporca al posto del caffè acqua colorata al posto dei succhi quantità modesta scelta solo tra te o caffè, nemmeno il latte e pochissime cose da mangiare. Si salva solo il personale poco ma cortese e rassegnato.

Pros:

Clean and comfortable room in 'Scottish baronial' style hotel just over the road from the Loch and the waterbus jetty. Good wifi. Reasonable size for a single room.

Cons:

The hotel is on its own, with no shops or other facilities nearby. Hotel decor is a bit dated, but the room was fine.

Pros:

The location was ideal for our trip as it was very central. There's ample parking and it's good fun to have a drink and a game of pool in the evening.

Cons:

It's very noisy being on the main road which you understand but more could be done to lessen this with the windows.Also delivery lorries pulling up under your window, dragging linen cages in at 6:30am isn't great.
The beds are very uncomfortable, we never understand bouncy, sprung mattresses and both woke up sore..
The breakfast is ok, there's not a great selection of cereals and a fresh, cooked to order breakfast is much nicer than pre cooked and kept warm.

Great last minute stay, arrived late 11PM and accommodated check in with no issues.
Pros:

Idyllic property loch side in a great location. Spacious room, comfortable bed.

Cons:

Road side noise could bother if light sleeper but I am
Not so no issue.
