As an American on a 2 week family vacation all over England, this was our favorite place we stayed! The staff was outstanding. Family operated and everyone was fabulous. The waitstaff, bartenders, cooks, were all super friendly and helpful. Rooms and beds were all very comfortable and clean. All rooms have been remodeled in the last couple of years. The location and the views from the patio were incredible. Food was great. We had 3 rooms booked for 5 people total. Good value.
We wish we could have stayed a few more days.
The showers were a bit tight in our room.
Lovely place and staff.
Second year running and was in the same room. Not the hotels fault. Just hoped for a change.
The setting is beautiful. The staff are really lovely and friendly. Our room was comfortable. We were given a portable AC which helped during a 2 night stay. The only downside and it's quite minor really, depending on your age and mobility. The bathroom light is on the wrong side of the bathroom door, meaning you have to walk into the bathroom in the dark to find the light which is behind the opened door. When you're getting on a bit in years you don't want to risk a fall trying to find things in the dark , we therefore had to leave the light on all night which we didn't like doing. There must be a wall mountable movement sensor on the market if you don't want to drill into the walls to put up a mirrored light to help in the dark.
The bathroom is outside of the bedroom, in a small dressing area , a lamp in this dressing area would definitely be useful. There wasn't a socket in this dressing area which meant hairdryer had to be used in the bedroom with no mirror. Please change one of the pictures in the bedroom to a mirror for us ladies who need to see what we are blow-drying.
As I said, these are minor and rectifiable.

Other than these little things, it was a lovely stay, dinner was good as was the breakfast so nothing to dislike
Great view from the beer garden. Good food. Comfortable accommodation. Friendly staff.
No negatives.
Great location, great room
The food truly was a real treat, superbly presented and expertly cooked
Nothing I didn’t like
This is a beautiful historic inn in the heart of the Lake District with incredibly nice staff, large rooms and good food.
Well, it’s 300 years old and can’t be air conditioned! A fan helped; these old buildings are constructed to retain heat, not get rid of it.
Perfect location
Staff were so friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful view
Friendly staff
Small room
No dressing table or mirror
Tv buffering
Friendly staff, good room, bed etc.
Beautifully appointed and fantastic staff - very accommodating. Breakfast was wonderful with GF options. Wish we could've stayed longer.
There isn't anything I didn't like. The inn is a little bit out of the main centre of Keswick, but that was a positive for us because the town centre was too busy. Easy access to Catsbells carpark where we started our 5 day hike.
Great views from the gardens.Easy parking.Friendly staff.
Breakfast was good.
Because the weather was so hot we wanted the windows open. This wasn't possible as the kitchen was sited below our room and was very noisy..
Evening meal was expensive, limited and small portions
View from "Mountain view bedroom" was amazing. Modern, comfortable hotel, friendly staff. Very quiet whilst we were there on a Wednesday and unfortunately dinner not served on Wednesdays, but plenty of choice of restaurants in nearby Keswick. Decor was very tasteful, breakfast good. We were the only guests in the building overnight plus one or two staff, very isolated situation but that is part of its charm.
Only one member of staff on Reception when we arrived, engaged in long conversation, but she did apologise for our wait.
Lovely location
The room was very small, not much room for us with our dog, quite small area, with limited space for our clothes .
