Cons:

I do not recommend Opal Hotel in Amman at all.

We arrived as walk-ins and booked a room for three people. The hotel gave us a family suite. We originally planned to stay for two nights: the first night was booked directly through the front desk, and the second night through Booking.com because it was cheaper.

From the moment we entered the family suite, there was a very strong and unpleasant sewage-like smell. We immediately reported it to the front desk. They told us the smell might be because they had recently changed the carpet and that it should go away after airing out the room. We opened the windows and tried to ventilate the suite, but the smell did not go away. Later, we realized the smell was actually coming from one of the bathrooms in the family suite.

I went back to the front desk and explained the issue again. They told me that while we were out, they would fix the problem. We returned around midnight, exhausted, only to find that nothing had really been fixed. The room had simply been sprayed with perfume and air freshener, but the bad smell was still there.

When I complained again, they sent someone to the bathroom. He opened the drain and sprayed perfume or air freshener inside it, then said there was a problem there and that he had “freshened” the drain. That was their solution. We were extremely tired and had no choice but to sleep there.

The next day, we continued to complain about the issue, but the hotel still did not properly resolve it. They did not offer a proper room change at that time, did not refund us, and did not handle the situation professionally. If a hotel knows there is a serious sewage smell coming from a bathroom, the solution should not be to spray perfume into the drains. Guests should be moved to a clean, acceptable room immediately.

On the second day, we moved to another room. This room did not have the same smell, but we discovered another cleanliness issue.
