It was convenient
Shower didn’t work breakfast cheap products and on leaving we weren’t asked how our stay was or we would have said.
2pm booking time all the hotel and staff was exceptional, breakfast was the best ive had in a overnight stay
Nothing
Ok.location wasn't that bad , 10 min walk from town centre shopping centre if you turn right or a few shops to the left depending on what your needs are , we ended up in up shopping mall with arcade for electronic darts pool air hockey bowling etc and a few fast food outlets mcds nandos gdk ,so it suited us for rest of evening , ideal location for stratford if your onto ahskesoear ,only 15 miles away .
Shower screen is only half ,which means floor gets wet or towel soaked or used as mop ,other than that room was well thought out , , not too sure if gym was free ,never had time , massages eyc available too if your into , never tried though , price of food too rich for my blood , , especially considering what I paid with breakfast ,room amd breakfast was a bargain, overall what I had and did 99% great deducted 1% as had to mop floor after shower so I don't slip , had drier wet rooms !
The whole experience wasgreat
I loved the location, it was so peaceful, and the views of the grounds were exceptional. My other half enjoyed the food portions.
Our room was small but clean, no air conditioning we suffered in the room it was so hot.
Staff excellent and premises clean
Ground floor room overlooked by car park and curtains had to be drawn the whole time. Windows could only be opened a fraction and there was no air conditioning.
Wonderful grounds, fortunately took my own chair cushion for the wooden chairs on the bottom lawn. Amazing that there were no prison type bench/table seats, always a positive. Wonderful to have a drink, snack on a pizza and smoke a good cigar. Person (lady) at the Bar provided a good service.
Room Reception '0' telephone did not work. Main light above the headboard did not work. Bring your own bottled water. The Southcrest Manor App. did not download to my phone. Water pressure just enough to have a shower. No real ale at the bar, a couple of bottles would have been good. Try to get into breakfast early, as at a late breakfast you will struggle for toast, knife & fork, coffee cup etc. When trying to book out before 1100am the Reception Phone does work to get assistance, just keep dialling after been cut off and eventually someone will arrive to book you out.
It was nice and clean
No fault to the property as it was due to the weather but was very warm in the room and feel that the curtains didn’t block out enough light
Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. Grounds at the rear are nice.
Carpet in the bedroom was cheap and nasty. It was ingrained with foot traffic dirt.
The staff were generally fine. But I do not like staff trying to BS me. When I mentioned the filthy carpet the woman at reception said "I'm sorry we don't have another triple room. I will get the staff to look at the room".
They did look at the carpet and cleaned it. It was better. But this left me wondering about the cleanliness elsewhere.
However, saying there were no triple rooms... When the beds consisted of a double bed split in two and a cot bed that could be moved into any room tells me she's just fobbing me off. And I don't like that!
I will actively avoid Best Western from here on.
Not impressed!
Pleasant staff comfortable bed.
Parking on site plentiful and free
The hotel has a caring team, elegant interiors and generally a calm and relaxing atmosphere here (sometimes there are some louder events, but that's what the Auxerre Suite is for and these are always flagged up). The breakfast is extensive, with lots of choice for big or small feeds. The breakfast team are super friendly and really attentive to our requests for pots of tea or decaf cafetieres as we're not fans of the hot drink machine. The restaurant meals just keep getting better and better, and the veg/vegan items are worth trying even if you're a meat-eater - the mush-balls are as delicious as meatballs and the BBQ corn ribs with hot maple sauce are really, really good.
We're still finding the pillows a bit flat and slightly hard to sleep on, we bring our own. It might be worth considering adding a couple of long life Oatly minis to the tea and coffee stations in the room, and in the luxury rooms it would be great to have coffee bags (Taylors do really good ones) rather than instant granules. We were recently in another hotel where there were water coolers on each floor. This could be handy for guests as the summer months are upon us, or bottles of water (or a refillable bottle) could be in the rooms. More salads or buddha bowl types of meal on the menus in the restaurant please - although when we've asked for one the team have been really accommodating. The mush-balls could definitely have their own spaghetti dish, or be part of a marinara ciabatta. Would it be possible to have some peanut butter at breakfast? And some other produce added to the fruit bowl (not the fruit salad) - grapes, pears, kiwi? One final small thing: the plants all seem to be fake. It would be nice to see real ones (although these can be hard to maintain. You need green-fingered experts).
