The restaurant, pool area, view and location fit for people in a car. The initial arrival was wonderful, the views are breathtaking taking and wonderful to sit and sight see. The breeze was spectacular to feel on the hot days. The pool was great to be in and ambiance was so inviting. We hope to return to this resort and enjoy a true bungalow outside. This time we requested a lower level room and they worked hard to arrange. The restaurant had nice selection and plenty of authentic Belizean food. We had stewed chicken and black soup! Yummy! 😋 Well aside from some issues we are loving this resort and will be sure to call before booking when we return.
Once at reception they stated that a half fee was due, but I wasn’t convinced because I paid using a rental app and paid in full. They also stated that my rooms would be a outdoor bungalow and I mentioned that I requested a lower level rooms for my party due to seniors with bad knees and heart surgery. They worked quick to fix, bravo for that. Though the one of the rooms didn’t have good air conditions, old or broken; and the windows didn’t lock so I could leave valuables in room, the room lacked blankets and no extra towels, lights bulbs not working and no place to connect charging phones. A connecting room wasn’t available so they accommodated another room for us, however the additional room didn’t have working air conditioning and no blankets or extra towels. They had to move one family into an additional room which had a bad air conditioning once again. By then I was exhausted and went to sleep with no sheets on because of heat. Aside the reception charged a half fee for room when I booked on booking.com and paid full price. I’ll be disputing.
The property was beautiful and well kept.
Close enough to all you want to do and see
Sunsets were amazing, stay out for the purple skies after the sun was down.
The screened porch was nice (but keep in mind the view is of the town and there was a lot of truck and motorcycle noise from below).
I was paying more so I was expecting more. You had to put the room card in a slot to activate the electricity. Which meant the air conditioning was off while you were out. I came back after a hot day outdoors to a hot room each day. And it was not a strong AC - it took a very long time to cool the room to a halfway decent temperature. I would not recommend Cahal Pech Village Resort
The location
The cabanas were dirty and the AC stopped working. We had to be moved.
the view is breathtaking
Everything was great.
Except our TV didn't work and the bathroom had a tub leak
Great views, great food, nice staff, wonderful excursions.
Cabanas could use some updating, bed wasn’t super comfortable, and it was loud (not their fault it is on top of a hill overlooking a busy valley).
Great view and good food.
Mattress was not comfortable.
The view from up on the hill was awesome. The individual huts were nice and private. The food was very good and it was enjoyable to be in the pools and the sunsets. The people were incredibly helpful, kind, and friendly.
The air conditioning in our room didn’t adjust the temperature very well. And also the shower did not drain well.
Amazing view, good food and drinks. Great pool.
The noise from the valley really resonates uphill and the cabanas aren’t very sound proof. Which is fine, it would be nice if they sold ear plugs in the lobby.
We enjoyed our stay at Cahal Pech, the room was very spacious with a really comfy bed and powerful shower. The bungalows all overlook the amazing view with little paths leading to them we saw lots of lizards and vultures. The setting was very peaceful and calm in well looked after gardens with lots of different tropical plants. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful and really make your experience at Cahal Pech I can't fault them!
We had breakfast twice at the restaurant, there were alot of options all very typical American it didn't feel very healthy. We ate there in the evening aswell the food was not the best we have had in Belize and the prices were expensive. There's also a coffee shop which is very hidden and we didn't know about it until we left this should be advertised better or moved to a more central place.
The location is 20 minute walk from town up a big hill so it's not very central, there's a good reasonable restaurant a 10 minute walk away called Lola's which is worth going too. It's also worth walking into town to try other restaurants during your stay and you can get a taxi back which was €10.
The pool area was an added bonus, I'm not sure how clean the pool was as I didn't see anyone cleaning it. It could do with some more sunbeds and getting rid of the awful leather chairs, random plastic red sunbed and cheap furniture.
The overall feel of the hotel was quite dated, the concrete floor around the pool wasn't very nice and the cave area with dinosaur was gimmicky and walking through it felt dirty. I feel the photos need updating and are probably from when the hotel first opened which isn't a true reflection. With some small improvements this hotel could be amazing just with a few changes to modernize it but keep the charm!
