Surprise: no private bathroom
Pros:

The location is very charming. The property is located on an island surrounded by greenery with a beautiful lake view. The building is a bit old, but still perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was included and quite good. The location is a little outside Montreal, but excellent for the price.

Cons:

The room organization was a complete mess. We paid a higher price on Booking to have a room with a private bathroom. Upon arrival, without even informing us, we were assigned a room that turned out to have no bathroom at all. We immediately went to the front desk, where three other guests were either facing the same issue or, even worse, had no room assigned at all.

At the desk, we were simply told, without much apology or concern, that Booking and Expedia had overbooked the rooms with private bathrooms, and that this issue had already been happening for a few days. We spent the first night in the room without a bathroom, and from the second night onward, after our polite request, they provided us with another room with a private bathroom. This is the reason why the overall rating is a 5 and not a 2 or 3.

In the following days, we saw other guests experiencing the exact same problem. The absurd part is that, since the issue happened across multiple booking platforms, the responsibility clearly lies with the property itself. On top of that, once they realized the issue during the first days, they still did not contact future guests in advance.

In summary: if you are looking for a room with a shared bathroom, go ahead and book it. If you specifically want a private bathroom, think twice and contact the property beforehand.

Beware. You will not get what you paid for

The breakfast room is lovely and they serve a wonderful breakfast with lots of selection. We grew up in the area. The Island is a beautiful location.

Cons:

We are 4 senior siblings, male and female so we booked 2 rooms with twin beds with attached bathrooms. I had even sent a prior message to the hotel, confirming that we were male/female required twin beds and bathrooms included in the rooms. We paid an atrocious amount over the usual daily rate as they double the prices for F1. We were attending a funeral in Montreal. We arrived at approximately 4 on Friday evening. The man at the reception was very rude, initially knowingly sent us to rooms with a double bed, no bathroom, after standing and talking to him for at least 25 minutes. We came back to the desk to say that was not what we booked and a double bed would not work for us and we required a bathroom. We got the runaround for at least another 25 minutes, the man was yelling at us to go away to another area. We knew if we were out of sight we would be waiting forever. It was already now approximately 4:45. We had a reservation with family for dinner in Montreal. Never dreamt that our check in would take an hour and go so horribly wrong. We ended up on separate floors, had to walk to the end of a hallway to use the mixed gender bathroom, and shower stalls. You will need shower shoes. You will see people walking down the halls in only a towel coming from the shower. On one occasion a cleaning person knocked on our door and was shocked that it was occupied, saying there wasn’t supposed to be anyone using that room. There was a piece of plywood under the mattress. There was constantly a smell of cigarettes from a room beside us. There is only one plug in the room, behind the bed, with an extension cord. There was a lamp but it did not work. The cord was frayed. We travel often and had just returned from 3 weeks in Europe in 3 different countries and were never treated with the disrespect we received at Manoir D’Youville. we received a small discount, but still over the usual daily rate. We would have rather had what we had paid for with a bathroom in our room.
