Very good value with an excellent breakfast and very close to A66 for a stop over.
We have stayed before and really liked it so to come back and be let down was disappointing. Probably won’t go back.
Poor food .. dry burger was bad but could have let it go but the service at dinner was poor. More focussed on chatting at reception and absent from the restaurant… and it wasn’t just our table. What made it worse in the morning despite great breakfast service was long wait to check out as no staff on reception. Room was dirty… might be a dog friendly room but carpet was really mucky and we pay extra for dogs
breakfast was excellent.
nothing.
Very good breakfast.
Non slip mats in the shower would have been useful.
Location
Indifferent staff
Cleanliness
I wanted a simple and quiet few days - this suited very well
Good location and quiet
Nothing
breakfast was good
The kitchen closing time really needs to be mentioned when you arrive or written on the menu. I get why they do it – the staff need time to close everything down, and no one wants an order coming through at 7:55 pm. But being told at 7:20 pm that the kitchen was about to close just made us feel rushed into ordering.
The drinks behind the bar were also pretty expensive, and the prices were different between the main bar and the wedding bar, that an no one told us there was a tab behind the bar.
The only other thing was the taxi back. We used the taxi company the hotel recommended, and it ended up costing £38, which felt a bit of a rip-off for the journey.
Lang wachten op ober en eten.
would be good to have the food open for longer in the evening or an option for room service
Location
Beds not v comfortable
The building was attractive and a good location
The bedroom was shabby with obvious signs of poor cleaning. The wardrobes were tatty. Overall the hotel looked neglected. The breakfast experience was dreadful, it took us over an hour to finish out breakfast as the time taken from order to serve took forever.
Lovely bar food and friendly staff.
Room 41 was in a very poor condition. The bathroom was in a terrible condition with surfaces unclean, hand wash bottles were filthy along with the tile grout in the shower. Large areas of damp were also evident.
Warm friendly welcome, couldn't do more to help. Lovely big room, very comfy bed. Convenient and pleasant location
Leaving!
Clean excellent staff help and attention. Beautiful building and delightful room
We liked everything
Room was big.
Staff were nice.
The corridors fire doors none of the door closer worked so they all banged loudly all the time.
The food was nice but pricey
The booked afternoon tea was very expensive so poor value for money.
And old hotel needes a real good make over.
