Please note that there is no travel (both flights or the ferry) to and from the Isles of Scilly on Sundays in April, May, June, September and October. In July and August the ferry does operate on Sundays. However, flights still do not operate on Sundays. Please take this into account when booking your trip to the Isles of Scilly.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation.

A fabulous weekend in wonderful Scilly
Pros:

The room was very comfortable. We loved our terrace and sea view. Part of the hotel dated to 1591 and was full of character. However, parts of it were very modern and ultra comfortable. We had a wonderful evening meal and a delicious breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The swimming pool looked very inviting and the gardens were colourful and beautifully kept.

Cons:

We loved everything about our stay.

Great stay, thank you! We would stay again.
Pros:

Fantastic location, lovely comfortable and clean rooms with a fantastic view, very helpful staff. The taxi shuttle to and from the airport was very helpful too. And we were able to check in early.

Cons:

The food could have been better. Dinner in the garden room was exceptionally well priced but slightly average in quality, likewise with breakfast.

Disappointed- well below expectations and poor value

Cons:

Outside the main castle the rooms resemble a 50s motel - the “terraces” look inwards. The interior decor gives instant “grandparents” feel: plush carpet, artic ceiling and a bathroom of travelodge quality. A place that is trading on the old building and location but the garden rooms are of a standard that would be barely justified at half the price. The staff did not communicate well what was available or indeed between themselves. First breakfast was awful and had to be sent back. The second breakfast we opted for the other restaurant but this had not been communicated so we were greeted with “what are you doing here ?”. Attention to detail is poor. The conservatory restaurant was good and the wine choices excellent, but who wants to sit and eat next to dead flies ?? This place has a lot of work to do to even begin to justify it’s price

Posizione. Stupenda, domina l’isola.Il servizio di navetta da e per l’aeroporto con personale efficiente, cordiale e disponibile. La colazione, semplicemente fantastica.

Cons:

Il primo impatto è stato mozzafiato nel senso che la reception è all’interno dell’antico castello… poi ci hanno fatto accomodare in un complesso di camere piuttosto anonime poste sul retro… forse le vecchie stalle ristrutturate, non ne sono sicuro.

Pros:

The history of the hotel was exceptional, with the battlements, thick stone walls, and Elizabeth I's initials carved over the entrance, as well as the cozy breakfast room. And the view was stunning. Dinners in the lovely, airy conservatory made good use of fresh local ingredients and were innovative and creatively presented, for a very reasonable price. Staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The garden area was attractively planted, and our room there was clean and comfortable but standard, though the local artwork was appealing.

Cons:

The view from the hill of the harbor and islands was splendid but the steep walk up to the hotel could be a bit daunting for older guests or those with mobility issues.

Lovely place. Lovely people. Lovely week.
Pros:

This is a great hotel with a lot of character. Food is exceptional and the staff are just great. This is a historic monument so don't expect traditional family rooms. But if you like quirky (and I do) then this quirky place is the one for you. New indoor swimming pool. Ideally placed for the boats to other islands. Two restaurants with excellent food. The hotel van meets you from the airport, takes you bags and reverse on departure.

Cons:

Wrong question. I liked it all. But I could have done with a reading light above my bed. And it's a stiff walk from the harbour up the hill to the hotel. But after all, this was a defensive 16th century castle built to keep out the invaders. (Strange there are so many French there these days.) Could do with a direct flight from Gatwick and I would go more often.

We had a fantastic stay and hope to visit again soon.
Pros:

My son and I found the room to be brilliant, and the staff was all amazing. The facilities were great also, and the food was wonderful. We had an excellent stay at the Star Castle during our holiday. The Isles of Scilly are a magical place to visit and explore with friends and family. The views from Star Castle are magnificent.

Cons:

I liked everything the only thing I wish I knew before hand is, that we could hire a golf cart to help with the hills around St Mary's. The amount of walking can get too much at times, especially when you then need to climb the steep hill to the Star Castle. By the time I realised where the hire company was all the golf carts were rented out for the rest of our holiday.

We were given the smallest room in the history of hotel rooms which rather spoilt the trip especially as we there with my brother who had a room more than twice the size and 33% cheaper!

Prime location and of course the wonderful views.
Pros:

Excellent choice and service. They set up a table on the landing near our room so that we didn’t have to leave our dog who suffers from separation anxiety.

Cons:

Room size not as large as we expected for the cost.
No comfortable chairs or sofa in our room to relax on.
