The Stykkishólmur Inn by Ourhotels

This is the smallest room we have ever slept in. No room to even fit two small cases

My wife and I had booked the Stykkishólmur Inn for the last two nights of what had been a wonderful vacation in Iceland. The Inn overall was fine and the staff at the property were very nice to interact with, but I had an issue with the specific room we were assigned; down a narrow twisting flight of stairs in the basement level (I had been promised a room with "nice view of the town"). I wasn't happy with the room, and messaged the property manager to see if something could be done. The message was unreturned, so after a while I called to discuss it over the phone. A man answered right away and was instantly abusive, stating "I know who you are" (he obviously had read my message) and then repeatedly saying you can't expect steak at a hamburger joint, and that if I didn't like it we should just leave and he would refund me (it was Sunday night at 6pm, we had been driving all day, and this was not an option). I tried to be polite as possible but the man on the phone was shockingly rude—I doubt he would have been so nasty face to face—and did not even pretend to be a tiny bit sympathetic to our concerns as paying guests. I have never felt this way before while traveling, but I detected a strong anti-American bias in his attitude and the things he was saying. The unexpectedly intense call ended with the man hanging up on me, leaving me very upset. Nonetheless, we sucked it up and stayed in the basement room, making sure to enjoy ourselves despite this ugly start, but it really left a bad taste in our mouths. I believe the man on the phone was Phil, a management person I had emailed with previously, but when I asked he would neither confirm or deny this.

Room is very small. Bathroom is so small and uncomfortable it’s almost impossible to even get dressed with the door closed. Shower door doesn’t close all the way so water gets all over. Baseboards were pretty dusty and the blackout curtains aren’t correctly sized for the window so they let in lots of light right over your head. Breakfast options were below average.

Sala della colazione piccola. Letti comodi ma sistemati in una stanza troppo piccola (probabilmente la nostra era una singola e hanno messo un altro letto accanto al termosifone per renderla doppia). Bagno minuscolo.

1 stanza microscopica per 3 letti che impediva l apertura dell armadio.
2 Bagno microscopico
3 mancanza prese per ricarica
4 colazione mediocre in ambiente troppo piccolo per ospitare gli ospiti
