Location was great. I liked the pizzeria downstairs and Jack's restaurant.
I usually stay at the Rosen Plaza and have had good experiences, so I was very disappointed with this stay.
The biggest issue was my interaction with the front desk. I arrived early, and my room was not ready yet, which I completely understood. I decided to have lunch and relax by the pool while I waited. I had self-parked near the outside gate by the jacuzzi and asked the front desk if I could have a temporary key so I could get back into the pool area after getting a few things from my car.
The front desk employee insisted that there was no gate that required a key for reentry. I explained several times that there was and that once I exited into the parking lot, the gate would lock behind me. Without a key, I would have to walk all the way around to the front of the property to get back inside. Instead of listening to me or checking, she continued to question what I was telling her. I even took a picture of the sign on the gate stating that a key was required for reentry, and she still questioned me. The interaction made me feel as though she thought I was being dishonest, which was unnecessary and very unprofessional.
When I finally received my room on the third floor, there was a very strong smell of plastic, oil, or some type of chemical. It was unpleasant, but I decided to deal with it rather than complain again.
Unfortunately, the next morning I was awakened very early by extremely loud drilling that sounded like it was coming from directly underneath my room. It was not the way I expected to start my morning during a hotel stay.
I normally choose Rosen Plaza because my previous stays have been pleasant and trouble-free. Between the front desk experience, the strong odor in the room, and being awakened by loud construction or drilling, this stay fell well below what I have come to expect from Rosen. I left very disappointed.
The location was great in relation to the convention center with the walking bridge directly connected to it. There was plenty to do within walking distance as well. They are pet friendly.
All of the extra fees. Parking was an additional charge per night. They are listed as being pet friendly however they don't list that it is restricted to one per max per room and there is a $150 non-refundable pet fee. With these extra charges it nearly doubled the cost of the booking. I booked a smaller room to save money as this was somewhat of a last minute trip and it ended up being very expensive.
The facility was very clean from the lobby/front desk to the rooms. The rooms were very nice, clean, and updated. The staff was friendly and very helpful.
No microwaves in the rooms, but understand the safety risk.
