We loved Kyoto, the hotel was in a great location and the rooms were fine. Good onsen so we were happy.

Pros:

La entrada y las zonas comunes, parte de un monumento histórico, te trasladaban a otra dimensión. Único y especial. La habitación era muy amplia y tenía mucho espacio de almacenaje, lo cual no es muy común en Japón.

Cons:

Estaba un poco descuidado, se notaba que ya tenía unos años, un toque de pintura no le vendría mal. También el sistema de limpieza era un poco extraño ya que no se podía indicar cuándo estabas todavía en la habitación y uno de los días nos quedamos con la cama sin hacer por ese motivo.

Charming blend of old and new
Pros:

Excellent location. There’s a grocery store nearby, so you can skip the FamilyMart and 7/11s if you want even cheaper food and drinks. The entrance is an older, traditional-style building (not where the rooms are), so it does come with a few quirks: if you’re over 170 cm you’ll need to duck under some beams, the stone flooring makes it a bit tricky to move large luggage, and the foyer/check‑in area is quite small.
The rooms themselves are nice, modern and a good size for two adults, though we did notice some damage around the sink, mirror, and cabinet area. Overall, it’s a charming blend of old and new, and we had a really good experience!

Cons:

I found it very strange that the ofuro/bath lighting is positioned inside the pool area — this really shouldn’t be the case. The change room you enter through is also small, which makes it difficult to move around when it’s busy. It could have been hotter as well, though I’m part Japanese and have been to much hotter onsens, so my expectations may be higher than most. I’ve added a photo of the facilities for reference.

Cons:

Das Japanische Frühstück ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, vor allem ungünstig ist, dass man es am ersten Tag nicht aussuchen kann. Ab dem 2. morgen kann man dann ein westliches Frühstück auswählen, das man dann in einer Bento-Box bekommt (wird dem Hotel scheinbar von extern angeliefert, da es keine Küche besitzt). Essen kann man entweder auf dem Zimmer (und von 7 bis 10 an der Rezeption abholen) oder in einem Frühstücksraum. Da dieser jedoch klein ist und nur limitierte Plätze hat, muss man vorher einen Zeitslot wählen. Uns war das zu umständlich und wir wollten zeitlich flexibel bleiben, daher haben wir auf dem Zimmer gefrühstückt, was zwar eng ist, aber es geht trotzdem. Angesichts des begrenzten Platzes in dem Hotel ist das alles aber verzeihlich, die Atmosphäre und der Spa-Bereich haben das für uns wieder wett gemacht, sodass wir insgesamt gerne in dem Hotel untergekommen sind.

Overall the hotel is understaffed and the price too expensive
Pros:

Location and the traditional building.

Cons:

We did not expect to have a room without any view (there was a white frosted plastic lining on the glass) feeling like we were in a basement. There was a live work site happening right by it, very noisy and we smelled gasoil every morning from the machines.
Besides, the booking system to have our room cleaned was not explained and we did not have our room and bed made several days. There is a screen for you to choose your options, which contradicts the info we got when we asked for our room to be cleaned. The screen clearly states that the bed is made everyday. Also, it is quite restrictive to have the cleaning window between 10 and 2.30pm for a room not even cleaned.
When you ask the staff for anything you feel like you are disturbing them, and they are quite short. The hotel advertises for services it does not have (massage). Coffee was not replenished. The room was also quite gimmicky and not the most functional.

Хорошие впечатления об отеле в традиционном стиле
Pros:

Отель японской сети Candeo, что добавляет аутентичного экспириенса. Выполнен в традиционном стиле, при этом современный внутри. Номер был чистый и относительно просторный. Есть место чтобы разложить 4 чемодана и ходить между ними.

В отеле есть прекрасный Онсен. После целого дня ходьбы и прогулок по Киото, посидеть в горячей воде- это прям супер. Мужской Онсен устроен так: есть предбанник где ты переодеваешься, дальше идет баня и бассейн внутри, а дальше дверь на крытое помещение на улице, где еще 2 бассейна с холодной и горячей водой.

Отель расположен недалеко от Гиона и многих тц. Не прям центральное расположение, но все равно удобно

Персонал был очень вежливым и услужливым

Cons:

Отель расположен не прям в центре Гиона. До него придется проехаться на метро минут 15-20. Это не испортило впечатление, просто имейте ввиду, когда будете бронировать

Hotel in ruhiger Lage mit traditionellem Vorhaus und modernem Hinterhaus

Sehr schöner traditioneller Eingangsbereich, ruhige Zimmer im modernen Gebäude. Gepäckaufberwarung möglich. Schöner Onsen inkl. Yukata zum leihen. Die Lage ist gut und zentral, allerdings muss man ein paar Meter zu den Stationen laufen. Man ist aber auch zu Fuß schnell im Zentrum.

Cons:

Leider nur eine Decke fürs Doppelbett. Fernseher nicht drehbar und somit vom Bett aus nicht sichtbar.

Insgesamt trotzdem ein geiler Aufenthalt und definitiv empfehlenswert. Das außergewöhnliche Konzept gehört einfach dazu
Pros:

Die Lage (Oder: Der Traum für faule Fußgänger): Das Hotel liegt perfekt im "Sandwich" zwischen zwei Subway-Stationen. Wer hier verloren geht, hat es auch nicht anders verdient. Marktstraße, Restaurants und Geschäfte sind quasi nur einen Stolperstein entfernt. Kürzer können Wege kaum sein.
Das Zimmer-Upgrade (Die Ironie des Schicksals): Wir bekamen ein Upgrade in die oberste Etage – inklusive eigenem, privaten Onsen! Klingt luxuriös? War es bestimmt auch. Haben wir es genutzt? Keinen einzigen Tag. Warum? Weil das Männer-Onsen in der 4. Etage einfach der absolute Endgegner war.
Das Onsen im 4. Stock: Fantastisch, blitzblank sauber, großzügig geschnitten und architektonisch so gut gemacht, dass man sich kurz wie ein japanischer Kaiser fühlt. Wer braucht schon eine private Badewanne auf dem Zimmer, wenn man unten im Wellness-Olymp thronen kann?
Komfort & Sauberkeit: Das Hotel war absolut sauber und super komfortabel. Betten top, Service top.
Fazit:
Wir haben den privaten Luxus ignoriert, um uns im Gemeinschaftsbad wie Könige zu fühlen. Würden wir sofort wieder buchen – und das Zimmer-Onsen dann vielleicht zumindest mal schief angucken!

Cons:

Das Frühstück als Bento-Box mit der Wahl zwischen japanischem und westlichem Stil war für unseren Geschmack eher schwierig. Beide Varianten waren für einen westlichen Magen durchaus gewöhnungsbedürftig. Man hat das auch beim Frühstück beobachtet – nicht jeder wirkte wirklich begeistert oder hat aufgegessen.
Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass es sinnvoll wäre, zusätzlich noch eine einfache dritte Option anzubieten, zum Beispiel Croissants oder etwas klassisch Kontinentales. Das würde vermutlich viele Gäste abholen und wäre wirtschaftlich wahrscheinlich kein großer Aufwand.

Am Ende muss man fairerweise sagen: Das Konzept ist bei der Buchung bekannt, und man hat auch die Möglichkeit, ohne Frühstück zu buchen.
