Nice and relaxing
Pros:

Kept traditional decor / features. Really good breakfast. Wasn’t in the hotel long apart from sleeping and getting ready for tea out

Cons:

Bed was a bit softer than I’m used to and the room was red hot at night even with the window open

Sweet hotel, nice staff, details could be worked upon.
Pros:

Lovely old building, presented in a sweet homely way. Nice dining area and lounge. The food was great.

Cons:

The mattress was very uncomfortable - extremely old, all springs, and the pillow was unforgiving.

Pros:

Great location, lovely welcome. Lovely big, peaceful room, lovely decoration. Very nice breakfast. Room very well kitted out with everything we needed. No dogs = great idea!

Family friendly hotel in the heart of the Lake District who clearly have regular return guests
Pros:

Location in Grasmere central to everything in the village with easy access to the surrounding fells
Rooms very comfortable each with their own character
Staff very friendly and attentive to guests needs
The breakfast service was excellent quality

Cons:

The temperature was very warm in the hotel but fresh air with window fully opened controlled overall temperature more than adequately, the sound of the river at the rear was very soothing

Cons:

Single occupancy room has heavily slanted floor going down towards the window. The small bed therefore feels like you’re on a ship.

Location was good, convenient. bed was comforatble, lovely garden

Cons:

I don;t think it was properly cleaned. our room and the dining area was full of dead insect and cobwebs, and also 3-4 spiders on the bathroom ceiling. cobwebs on the bed lamps, dead insects on all the window frames - it was very easy to spot, I dont understand how they woudlnt' clean them when preparing the room. we stayed for 2 nights, they didnt even check the room on the second night and basic stuffs (e.g. water) were not refilled and all the staffs were gone at night (they may have been in, but I couldnt see them in the reception area and the bell was off) so we needed to go to shops to buy those things. also food was very salty and we once had dinner there, the steak was burnt.
