Classic Lakeland country house hotel for trip with friends who were first time visitors to Lakes. Ticked all the boxes in terms of comfort and presentation of rooms, lovely, friendly owners & staff, and had a relaxed evening meal in bar & restaurant.
Nothing.
Everything…Staff very kind!
The best breakfast ever!
Shower doors didn’t close properly ,so leaked out onto floor!
Super central location in the heart of Grasmere. Lovely spacious hotel with very comfortable communal lounge/bar area and garden with plenty of seating options. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food, both at dinner and breakfast - really tasty.
Easy check in , Hotel is in a great location , super comfy beds, tasty breakfast with really nice baked goods. What more could you ask for

I booked a single room last minute. The price was excellent considering the location and time of year.
The building is beautiful with lovely interior styling. The staff were lovely and the breakfast was delicious.
The room was clean and comfortable and had a view of the lovely garden.
Nothing
Location & hotel building & decor, free parking & WiFi, lovely bar area & garden by river.
Main shower too high & lower shower not working very well, no spray and had to hold shower head as not adjustable. Otherwise room pleasant.
Came down to breakfast 8.45 not particularly busy, sat for quite a while, had to catch attention of server to order tea & coffee & again later on to place breakfast order. Some fresh croissants and summer berries would have been nice.
Lovely old building, very conveniently located. Enormous bed in a large room. Great shower. Breakfasts were hearty, and they were happy to adapt the set offerings.
All the staff were friendly and seemed happy in their work.
Unfortunately I have to say avoid the Wordsworth bedroom. On the ground floor, it backs on to the beer garden, so you have people partying right next to your bedroom windows. After a long hot day we wanted to sleep early, with the windows open, but that was impossible. It's also right next to reception and you can hear any conversations going on there.
Book any other room and be sure of a great stay in this lovely hotel.
Smooth, welcoming check in. Staff really friendly. Room clean and fresh. Location of hotel and surrounding area was perfect. I stayed for one night and had a wonderful breakfast. A lovely place and will be returning soon for a longer stay.
The view from the room was overlooking an outbuilding roof which was a shame in the evening.
Lovely building, comfortable bed, good shower, peaceful, owner & breakfast waitress both very personable, lovely gardens, great breakfast. 10 out of 10.
There was nothing to dislike.
