Overall impression
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel in Kyoto. We booked the largest room type — with a small kitchen and stunning panoramic windows — and were lucky to be placed on the 7th floor, which gave us an incredible view. For Japan, the room size was remarkably large and felt spacious and comfortable throughout our stay.
The room was big and bright, with beautiful panoramic windows and a great view from the 7th floor. There are two beds that are comfortable, though a bit firm — worth keeping in mind if you prefer a softer mattress. The room comes with a small kitchen that has everything you'd need (we didn't cook, but it looked well-equipped). There's a large table where you can comfortably eat or even work, and a big TV that works great. The lighting deserves a special mention — very pleasant, with lots of options to adjust and set the mood. The bathroom, while small, is usable and does have a shower curtain, so you can shower standing up. Bathrobes are provided, which is a nice touch. On the ground floor there's a laundry room and a microwave, which are very convenient. The staff were friendly and welcoming. If you need to forward your luggage to another hotel, the price is very cheap and reasonable.
The location is excellent too. There's an amazing, huge supermarket right next to the hotel. Nearby you'll also find bus stops that can take you to practically all the main tourist spots around the city, which is incredibly convenient for getting around. And there's a lovely Starbucks close by as well.
The beds are a little on the firm side. There aren't many hangers in the closet. The one real issue we had was with luggage forwarding: we needed to send a suitcase to the office of a delivery company in another city (rather than to another hotel), and after about an hour of trying, the staff weren't able to help us with this. We ended up using a different service and sending the suitcase ourselves. This may have been a somewhat non-standard request, so it likely won't affect most guests — but it's worth being aware of if your situation is similar.

Affordable price. We stayed for three nights. The hotel was right next door to a large supermarket with a wide selection of products.
The hotel was situated far from popular areas, making it feel quite isolated. I relied on Ubers for most trips due to the inconvenient location and a poorly connected public transport system, which quickly added up in cost.
The beds were uncomfortably firm, and the bathroom had a strong smell of mildew/mold a clear sign of poor maintenance or ventilation. The room itself also carried a persistent musty odor throughout our stay.
While the price was affordable, it simply wasn't worth it. I would rather pay more to stay somewhere closer to the city center. The room felt perpetually dirty, largely because the trash cans provided were small and there was barely any space to dispose of food and drink waste we brought back to the room.
