A beautiful, well-preserved hotel housed in an 18th-century mansion, just a few minutes walk away from the famous Pietermaai district.
The pool area is small but lovely, and my room (#19) was beautiful, clean, and spacious. It looked exactly like the “King Room” shown in the photos on Booking.com.
The only downside was the lack of natural daylight. The only daylight entering the room came through the shutters of the door and the bathroom window. Although you rarely spend much time in your room during the day, the lack of daylight did make it feel somewhat claustrophobic at times.
For the hotel itself, I would have given it 9–9.5 stars.
But…
When it comes to hospitality and customer service, unfortunately, I had an exclusively negative experience.
Due to a late arrival, I reached the hotel after reception had closed. The hotel had informed me about this in advance and provided instructions for a late check-in.
However, my taxi driver dropped me off at the pool area rather than the main entrance. I then spent more than 20 minutes walking around the hotel, calling the phone numbers I had been given countless times and trying to contact the hotel via WhatsApp. Nobody responded.
Eventually, a security guard appeared—despite the fact that he had somehow remained completely invisible during my numerous walks around the property. The check-in itself then went smoothly.
What shocked me, however, was that nobody from the hotel staff felt it necessary to follow up with me about the incident over the following days.
Then, on Wednesday, I returned from work to a nicely cleaned room. I quickly noticed, however, that my white pyjama t-shirt was missing.
I checked three times over the course of two days to make sure I hadn’t simply misplaced it, but unfortunately, it was nowhere to be found. I immediately informed the hotel staff. Since the shirt is mostly white, it is entirely possible that it was accidentally picked up together with the bed linen while the bed was being changed. Absolutely no problem—these things can happen, and I was certain it was not intentional.
Unfortunately, the communication over the following days was extremely disappointing. I had to repeatedly follow up and ask for updates, and since yesterday afternoon, my messages were not even answered.
Today, I personally addressed the matter with a receptionist, who told me she would take care of it. Again, I received no follow-up and eventually had to return to reception myself to find out what was happening.
The staff was very friendly and responded immediately to all wishes :)
There was a lot of construction going on which killed a bit the hotel vibe

Muito bom o hotel. Quarto amplo e bem arrumado, cama confortável, limpeza diária muito boa. O hotel empresta toalhas de praia também, que facilita muito. Tem a opção do café da manhã à parte, à la carte, achei bem servido e saboroso.
Apenas o box do banheiro, achei pequeno e é fechado com cortina, molha fora do box.
