Hotel is a bit tired and could be doing with some modernisation. For my overnight stay it was fine for the price.
Our stay was fine room comfortable, staff were friendly breakfast was very good, good choice and quite adequate
Only disadvantage to room is I have difficulty with stairs and we had 3 flights of stairs to get to our room. Going up is fine its coming down is problem
Location worked for me. Car parking is plentiful close to reception.
Lack of choice for vegan food. First morning I mentioned to staff that beans under the same lid as black puddings meant that the beans were meat contaminated by black pudding sweat. No change though the following mornings.

Room was very stuffy and hot even with window open and fan on but this is out with the control of the staff
Plenty of parking immediately outside the hotel.
Scaffolding around my part of the hotel up which anyone could have climbed and gained access to the room via open window which I could not close! Single room bed was appallingly hard - reminded me of boarding school / barrack room beds in which I’ve slept.

Temperature in the room was ridiculously warm - staff response was 'it gets like that in summer and it's too much of an expense to install air con' Temperature was cooler outside!
The basic fan in the room only circulates air, it does es not cool the room. Also, the fan is noisy, so it is impossible to sleep with it on, and hotel staff's only suggested resolution is another fan! Tried opening windows but then had noise from other guests in the area below
There was a wedding on at the time of our stay and we were also disturbed by the nouse of music from the venue up to midnight
Raised all of the above with hotel staff and no resolution was offered (other than another noisy fan)
Hotel advertises itself as a signature hotel and spa. Given the basic facilities in the rooms, the price charged is not value for money. You also have to pay extra to use any of the spa facilities

Alerted staff that there was an unpleasant smell both outside and inside my room.
There was scaffolding outside my room so perhaps it was related to building works but it really wasn't nic.
