Lovely, cozy stay!
Pros:

Incredibly tastefully decorated, looks even better than the photos! We received a warm welcome and were kindly allowed to check in early, in addition we only planned on staying for 5 nights, and then moving on to a different location bit decided to extend for 3 more nights as we loved it so much. We were offered an upgrade to a larger room which had both a balcony and living area, as well as a jacuzzi. The rooms are extremely clean and well kept and makes you feel just at home.

Disappointing stay – misleading photos and poor comfort
Unfortunately, my experience at this property was not good.
First of all, the one-bedroom apartment I received was completely different from the photos shown on the website. The listing gives a misleading impression, and it seems that the owner is more focused on taking payment than ensuring guests receive the accommodation that was advertised.
The air conditioning was not working properly, and the curtains were very thin, so the room never became dark enough. Because of the light coming through the window and the poor AC performance, I had several nights of uncomfortable sleep. I informed the owner about the AC issue, but instead of fixing it, I was told that everything was fine.
Another important point: guests are not allowed to bring friends or female visitors to the room, so be aware of this rule before booking.
The cleaning/reception staff was also quite rude. There was no greeting, no smile, and the attitude felt unnecessarily arrogant. I eventually had to complain to the owner, after which the situation improved somewhat.
My advice to future guests is to inspect the room before making full payment. In Kazakhstan, it is not uncommon for the actual room to differ from the photos shown online.
This property may be suitable for older guests looking for a very quiet stay, but I would not recommend it for younger travelers or anyone looking for a social or lively atmosphere.
Overall, I did not have a pleasant experience and would not choose to stay here again.

К сожалению, мой опыт проживания в этом объекте был негативным.
Прежде всего, однокомнатные апартаменты, которые мне предоставили, совершенно не соответствовали фотографиям на сайте. Описание и изображения вводят в заблуждение, и создаётся впечатление, что владельца больше интересует получение оплаты, чем соответствие жилья заявленным условиям.

Man müsste zwar separat bezahlen, aber es hatte im Zimmer eine Sauna, die schön war. Es gab eine Badewanne und eine Duschkabine. Der Innenhof war sehr hübsch

Pros:

The hotel is wonderful. The rooms are excellent, modern, clean and all you need. Some rooms even have their own sauna. The kitchen area is ideal for doing your own simple meals such as breakfast. Location near to some excellent restaurants and ideally placed for Almaty city and main things to do such as Kok Tobe Hill, museums, city centre, trips into the mountains etc. Alex, the owner, is so helpful with everything. We highly recommend this hotel for visits to Almaty and will certainly stay there again in the future.

Excellent value for money.
Pros:

By now I am frequent visitor to Colibri.
Location is great. Close enough to center but neighborhood of KOKTOBE offers a feeling of seclusion and tranquility.
I very much like design of this boutique hotel, how cozy all the apartments are. Plus the beautiful garden, to chill out. Hotel owner is keen to make your stay special. Service is very good. Rooms are clean and tidy.
There is no breakfast, however Colibri is close to many restaurants, be it Georgian or Middle-Eastern places, and typical Kazakh.

Wow. Just, wow!
Pros:

I had spent the prior week in the mountains, so coming back to the city and this was an absolute dream - so much that I made a reel about it! The main room has a bar, stocked mini fridge, and eating area, open bedroom has a large TV and fireplace - now let's get to the good stuff. There is a walk in shower, a giant bath tub, and even a sauna. Although it was wood burning and I didn't want to take my hand at burning this beautiful place down, still 11/10. Grab a cab to fantastic restaurants and bars for 2 or 3 USD. Will forever be my go-to in Almaty!
