A lovely manor house that’s been in the family for over 400 years. Marie, the current owner, was charming and could not have made us more welcome. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Our room was gorgeous and we enjoyed a terrific dinner, with well chosen wines. A memorable stay.

We spent a week at Manoir d'Hautegente as our son was getting married there.
We were in three rooms, all were beautifully decorated and impeccably presented. During the wedding weekend our room was amazing.
The property has a fascinating, sad but interesting wartime history and has been in the family for over 400 years and visitors and events help with the upkeep.
The grounds are spacious, a great pool surrounded by a mint lawn. Enjoy the family of 'Silkie' chickens, the kittens and their good 'ol white retriever who keeps everyone amused; they all just wander around the grounds quite unconcerned by the visitors and proved a great hit with the small children at the wedding.
Their restaurant is very high end. There is also a bistro just down the road, 'Table de Jean' which is connected with the interesting history I mentioned. Additionally the Clos de Moulin is 20 minutes pleasant walk (2 mins in the car); a very nice, simple and not too expensive place to eat (in the UK we'd think of it as a pub I guess). Lovely in the evening when it didn't start to get dark until about 10:30pm.
The waiting staff are generally quite young and speak fluent English. They are all most helpful.
Manoir d'Hautegente is truly an experience.

Das Manoir d´Hautegente ist ein absoluter Geheimtipp! Das alte Gebäude ist liebevoll restauriert und renoviert, die Zimmer sind geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Das Manoir ist umgeben von einem Grundstück mit einem Bachlauf mit einem kleinen Wasserfall. Überall auf der weitläufigen Wiese sind gemütliche Loungesessel verteilt, in denen man stundenlang verweilen und die Ruhe genießen möchte. Der Pool liegt umrandet von großen Hecken, so dass man auch dort ganz entspannt liegen kann. Das Personal, insbesondere die Hausherrin, ist außerordentlich gastfreundlich. Im Hotel und Restaurant arbeiten viele junge Leute aus ganz Europa und der Welt, die absolut in ihrem Beruf aufzugehen scheinen. Das Essen dort ist hochklassig und wird ausschließlich aus saisonalen und regionalen Zutaten zubereitet. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und bedauert, dass wir nicht länger bleiben konnten. Großes Kompliment an das Haus und vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit!

Le pain est excellent ! bravo au boulanger qui approvisionne le manoir

The homely staff extremely comfortable and Oakley the dog.the breakfast was gorgeous and the nearby restaurant La Table de Jean.
