Lovely location , well appointed rooms ,ruined by terrible service
Pros:

Good rooms , clean excellent in room facilities

Cons:

The worst service in a hotel in twenty years. Seated for breakfast and asked if would like coffee. Replied yes, waited 30minutes no coffee no one to take order. When leaving told the breakfast supervisor this was an unacceptable wait met with a shoulder shrug. I know there are busy times but have also worked that side and either just the coffee being delivered or a warning there would be a wait would be the standard, a proper apology or even an offer of “ I will see what the problem is” would have made up for the one star service

Pros:

The location on a beautiful Hill next to a wonderful and rare old public park and the fantastic hotel staff.

Cons:

Nothing really, everything was very well done. We had the afternoon tea (yummy), enjoyed a light late dinner, and had a lovely Breakfast out on the terrace. The only thing we genuinely wished for is that we would have booked more days here.

Pros:

The actual building and location

Cons:

We did not like the entrance to our room, which was via 2 fairly steep steps.
Also the bathroom door was very difficult to open and close and in order to access it you had to go down a very steep step dangerous in the dark at night. The shower also had a slippery floor, the shower taps were difficult to see the instructions for use and more grab rails needed!
We felt all these factors made it not suitable for elderly people, which we are.

Lovely period property in quiet location with fab dining and friendly staff.
Pros:

Fabulous country hotel - like staying at a National Trust property. Had a lovely walk around the grounds, well appointed and furnished and all the staff were super polite and helpful. Food is fabulous.

Cons:

Really lovely stay but, for me, a mattress topper to make the bed a bit comfier would be welcome. It's a period property so no air con, but there was a fan, and quiet enough to leave the window open.
