We stayed in a shepherd hut, it was beautifully equipped and laid out. Luxurious yet private. Friendly staff. Everything was easy.
We got married here which is why we return. I didn’t love that there was a loud wedding taking place what felt like very close to our shepherds hut but understand this is the nature od the venue. Just not as peaceful as I would have lo ned
We sat with friends in the bar area on Sunday afternoon and had a lovely view of the stream and some delicious bread and butter with our drinks. That was the highlight of the trip.
The breakfast was good including excellent tasty bacon and chopped fresh fruit.
We came here 20+ years ago for a friends' wedding and loved it so were happy to return to celebrate a big anniversary. Sadly, there were a number of big disappointments which made me wish we had gone somewhere else.
- Woodland huts: the woodland huts had some trees in front of them but were actually facing over the hotel site and the overwhelming sound was the generators/aircon units on the main site. It definitely didn't feel like a woodland location. It would have been much better if they were facing away from the site, towards the field behind them. I would not have booked if I had know the location would be like that.
In addition, my mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable - it seemed to be the mattress topper making it like that. It needs changing.
- Evening meal in Cowshed: I told the hotel we were booking to celebrate a big anniversary. It turned out that the Sunday evening menu was only 4 mains, all roast dinners. Beef, Chicken, Pork and T bone to share. The last two were unavailable so we had the choice of Beef or Chicken roast dinner. I never order roast dinner as I don't enjoy them, and would not have booked to eat there if they had informed us about the extremely limited Sunday menu. It was a good Sunday roast if you like them.
We ordered puddings - our first choice was not available so three choices left. I left most of mine as it was too sweet (I never leave puddings!). I can't remember the name of it but it was something like a blackcurrant choc ice + blackcurrant sorbet. Very sad that it didn't live up to expectations.
Also, the tables are strangely laid out in the restaurant so larger groups are in the centre of the room but all tables for 2 people are lining the edge and feel out of the way and not well accommodated.
It feels a bit like making money is the main priority here, rather than the guests.
We have stayed in lots of lovely hotels recently but this is one I would rather not have come to.
The rooms were amazing.
Spaced out areas to have a drink and great food
Parking was a small walk over rough ground so not good for wedding shoes
It had a lot there and really enjoyed the room and little touches
Got woken up at 6:30 as our room was next to the kitchen and we could hear them banging around, I assume getting ready for the day, which was very annoying to be woken up at that time. We were also disappointed to learn the pizza isn’t open on weekdays so our only option was the cowshed restaurant. We would’ve liked to see a burger on the menu or something but it was all very deer
It’s beautiful
It was lovely nothing to no like
Location was fantastic and the surrounding walks were stunning. All the food on offer was absolutely delicious.
The property was clean, beautiful surroundings and great facilities.
Welcoming, scenic and clean. Had a lovely room in what looked like a brand new building. Great food and drink on site. Buffet breakfast was fab. Busy with a wedding party, but not overly noisy, and easy to distance yourself. No queuing anywhere. Staff were generally very efficient and helpful.
Noisy air conditioning even when switched off. Surprised to see I'm not the first to mention this. Really does need addressing. We were in Kingsbridge Archers Green. Fantastic room, but feels a tiny bit like you're encroaching on the bigger property that this forms a part of (we aren't very thick-skinned though, so that's probably just us!)
The room was comfortable and elegant. The location is well away from the road with plenty of open space around it. Staff are very helpful.
Location is lovely. Breakfast was good
Non-functioning air conditioning which was why I’d booked this hotel
