A slice of paradise ideal for friends and couples.

Belle vue,calme,proche ocean et piscine sympa,chambre très chouette et spacieuse,équipée,personnel adorable ,proximité et variété des activités,très bien et prix très raisonnables,super massages aussi !et île magnifique…

Cons:

Qualité des repas moyenne,dommage qu’il n’y ai pas de plat à la carte,comme la langouste ??
Personnel de restauration qui débute ? Sauf le super manager !

Pros:

Struttura oltre le aspettative. Camera meravigliosa dotata di tutto raffinata e pulitissima. Staff di una gentilezza, disponibilità, efficienza incredibili. Tutti sempre sorridenti e amichevoli senza essere invadenti. Su tutti i ragazzi della reception, il restaurant manager e le sue collaboratrici e Rey dolcissima ed efficiente su ogni richiesta fatta.

Pros:

The breakfast was varied and plentiful, and the lunch also offered a great selection and was excellent. The staff were friendly and very attentive. It was my first time in Mafia Island and I stayed for four nights. Considering the staff’s professionalism and proactiveness (including Masut), as well as the cleanliness and tasteful design of the facilities, the overall standard was very high and excellent value for the price.

Raramente un posto supera le aspettative, Basecamp ci è riuscito! Dalla gentilezza e disponibilità del personale, la comodità e cura delle stanze, la bontà dei pasti e colazione (sempre con frutta freschissima). La posizione è ideale per visitare Chole e d’intorni, per fare passeggiate lungo la spiaggia e provare i ristorantini vicini. Le gite per vedere gli squali balena sono dall’altra parte dell’isola, ma raggiungibili in 15-20 minuti di tuktuk o macchina.

Basecamp Eco Lodge is perfectly situated at the beautiful white sand beach of Utende in the middle of a protected marine park. No mass tourism yet on Mafia therefore a tranquil place to fully relax and enjoy the high level of comfort and luxury that Basecamp offers with beautiful new boutique rooms in the middle of an authentic African experience in the village next to it. As the beautiful Chole bay and marine park are just in front of the lodge it is very easy to take one of the many tours.. You can easily spend 1-2 weeks without being bored as Mafia island has much experiences to offer.. There are a few diving schools in Utende at walking distance. Also a few small Swahili restaurants along the coast.
The Basecamp restaurant also served a diverse and tasty menu which changes every day.
The staff of Basecamp is amazing - they really make you feel at home and take care of everything you might need.
Highly recommended!

A beautiful resort right by the sea. We found it offered the perfect blend of luxury, nature and a relaxed atmosphere. Just the ticket for unwinding and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed breakfast every day in the lovely open-air restaurant. The seaside bar is also a great spot for a relaxed get-together. The pool is perfect for all ages too! I love the sun loungers and parasols, which, like so many other things here, are made from natural materials.

Perfect!
Pros:

The hotel is just beautiful, they take care of every detail, the room is super big and confortable. The food is delicious and changes every day. The pool is huge and always clean, there are two bars and a restaurant with a good menu. But the most remarkable thing is the staff, from reception to every waiter/waitress, they are so kind and extremely helpful. We didn’t want to leave!

- gute Lage für Schnorchelausflüge zu schönen Reefs
- Grosse Frühstücksauswahl mit frischen Eierspeisen, Früchten & Backwaren
- Renovierte Zimmer sind sehr schön modern & geräumig, mit schöner Aussicht, schnelles Internet
- Sehr schön gestalteter Aussenbereich & Restaurants
- schöner grosser Pool mit Wasserfall, Poolbar & Liegen
- Billardtisch
- freundliches Personal

Cons:

- Hotel liegt im Naturschutzgebiet = vor Ort ist zusätzlich eine Gebühr von USD 23.— pro Person & Nacht zu begleichen!! Diese Info steht weder bei Booking.com noch auf der Hotelwebseite!

- Preisleistung stimmt beim Abendessen nicht (kleine Portionen, lieblos angerichtet) Alternative Empfehlung: 2 lokale Restaurants am Strand (lecker, frischer & günstiger)

- Touren über das Hotel zu buchen war leider umständlicher & teuerer als bei den localen Anbietern (Hotel hatte auch nach einer Woche die Touren-Preisliste/Angebote noch nicht gefunden)

- Hatten Zimmer mit Kühlschrank, Wasserkocher & Internet gebucht - jedoch nicht erhalten, stattdessen Schimmel im Zimmer. Nach Reklamation erhielten wir an Tag 2 dann glücklicherweise ein renoviertes Zimmer was alles gebuchte enthielt.
