The room was spacious and clean.
We stayed for 3 nights and we were hoping for a comfortable stay and left feeling like uninvited guests throughout.
The room was street-facing and lacked the en-suite walk-in shower advertised — we didn’t complain. On day two, the courtyard was taken over by a market our host was organizing, so we spent the day cycling instead. Breakfast recommendations led us all the way to Sighișoara, as no local guesthouse would serve just two people.
Small but telling details: the shower gel was heavily diluted with barely anything left, and the “hair towel” was the size of a face cloth. The host never checked in on us, yet found time to tell us about a jazz evening nearby we’d never been informed about.
Any time we needed the kitchen, we were met with sighs. The coffee machine was broken. On our last day, we returned to find the water pump had failed — and when we asked about it, the response was: “What do you need water for?”
We raised none of this during our stay. We adapted, stayed quiet, and made the best of it. But between the misleading listing, the lack of basic hospitality, and the general feeling of being unwanted, we cannot recommend this accommodation.
Romanian authentic atmoshere, traditional interior design
Some of the things mentioned in the listing were not available, but we paid the same price. The price is high for the value offered.
Charming place, loved the teracota stove and the barn living room
Had to park in front of the gate
The rooms were quite impressive in both style and confort.
We did not like the fact that our room could be an entrance to/ from other rooms and there were no keys to lock those doors( old door locks). The entrance to the room, as we lately understood from the host, had to be done from outside of the building an not from the main/kitchen area, like it was previously presented to us, but nevertheless, the door could not be locked from outside anyway. So, clearly there is some sort of confusion around the house rules in regards to this aspect but also about the door lock which was clearly not working or maybe the keys we got were used for other room/s.
Also, when we came home( later in the day), we tried to enter from kitchen/main are, like we were told,(since nobody else was cheked in besides us) and our room was the first one anyway, we were clearly stopped by the host like we were 2 strangers and not guests, and we kind of felt like we were not welcomed and we were chatting about leaving the place, but since we paid, we decided to stay. It was just one night.
So, i would suggest to improve the communication part to your guests and treat them accordingly. It doesn’t matter how fancy the home is if you don’t explain to your guests you house rules or maybe make some effort to accomodate each situation.
The renovation and restoration were done in very good taste—everything looked beautiful and created a calming atmosphere overall.
The garden was lovely and provided shade on very hot, sunny days.
Even though we stayed in the sunny room, the temperature remained very comfortable (cool) throughout our stay, thanks to the magic of old Saxon homes.
The host’s recommendations on where to eat and drink were absolutely top-notch.
The perfect stay for one night only, although I wish I had stayed longer. Amazing accommodation, peaceful and it looked it something out of a magazine. I will definitely come back!
If you're looking for tranquility, this Saxon House—beautifully restored to preserve its authentic charm—is a serene oasis nestled in the heart of nature.
