The Abbey of Mont St Michel is terrific.
We could not find the hotel for a while because there is a name of a different hotel on the door. It was 95 degrees that day so those extra 15 minutes were miserable. When I asked they said "Oh yeah, we plan to change the name of the hotel soon". We had to ask for a fan 4 times, it took more than a day which meant one very hot night in a room without AC. Each staff person we asked just tried to get rid of us. One even lied and told us that the hotel didn't have fans. I asked for ice, and was told the hotel didn't have ice but I could ask in the breakfast room/restaurant downstairs. I went down and was just screamed at to get out because they were closed because they were closed, the door was open. She would even listen to my request. Be aware that the streets below the abbey of Mont St Michel is just a tourist mob scene from about 10 to 4. Food choices are limited, over-priced and mostly with average to poor service.
Vale a pena a experiência
Location
It was on mont st michel. Breakfast was included.
There was no a/c or fan, lots of uneven stairs. No water, ice or coffee machines or xtra pillows. Room was very small, carpet kinda old.
The location is perfect.
No guarantee you will get a meal unless you book in advance. We made the mistake of not booking a meal one night. No food or drinks available. Luck I had a packet nuts to eat.
Very disappointed
Der Ort, die Lage waren super. Das Frühstück war gut.
Die Wegbeschreibung zum Zimmer war etwas verwirrend.
NICHTS
Lärm bis 24h
Lärm ab 5h
Horror
Kakerlaken im Badezimmer
location was of course good
breakfast was bad (crowded, flies constantly on food, food mediocre), we'd requested a two-twin room but were assigned one full-size bed which was too small for us so we didn't sleep, noise level from passersby was loud, room was VERY hot because of heat wave and only one small fan provided
Initial thoughts location was good, just up the grande route near post office. Room 102 and 103 in the main building, room small with two beds and kettle and a good sized bathroom. Perfect size for 1 night only. 2 adults and 2 kids.
It was sweltering hot when we stayed and no fan offered. Window was open but the noise from the street was so loud and be warned started at 5am with bin men and food deliveries bumping up the cobbled stones and talking so loudly. We weee all awake by 5:15am. We had half board at the restaurant below which was fair but food took ages and at breakfast loads of flies and no covers on the food so we didn’t eat much at all. Overall place is tired and using its little action to trade off tourists who will never return.
Die Lage
Extrem kleines Zimmer, dreckig, der Teppich total versäumt, spinnen im Zimmer, was die Lage betrifft: Morgens ab 5 Uhr laute Arbeiten, sehr warm.
Magical setting, helpful, welcoming staff. If you needed anything, it would be delivered to your door right away. Not many steps to our annexe. Quiet (until tourists arrive but that is to be expected).
It was a brutal heatwave. A fan or air conditioning in the rooms would have been welcomed. Also no fridge.
Lots of parking just before you take the shuttle over to Mont Saint Michel. Check in was easy at the Relais hotel just before you cross over. Plenty of parking spots. The hotel itself is conveniently located right at the entrance of Mont Saint Michel. A great place to stay if you want to see MSM at sunset or sunrise after/before all the tourists are gone. Breakfast was downstairs at the restaurant. Good selections of the usual: bread, butter, jams, bacon, sausage, fruit, coffee machine, etc.
Prior to checking in, they do send out an email asking you what you will need prior to your stay. If you have a car, they say they will send you a code so you can drive your car into the parking lot of the Relais. They didn’t send one even though I marked that I wanted one. I ended up having to email them for a code on the day of my arrivals. They take a bit of time to reply, so we ended up having to find a phone to call them to get a code quicker.
The experience was wonderful and the lodging was comfortable after we got a fan for our room which had no AC
Lots of stairs and no AC
