Beautifully maintained property, exceptional gardens. Loved hearing birdsong and watching monkeys and even peacocks in the trees. Saw a huge eagle circling overhead one day.
Staff were exceptionally warm, friendly and helpful. Food was awesome - both western and Sri Lankan. We stayed with 2 kids who both really enjoyed it.
It’s near Ravana adventure park and the blue cave trips. 20 mins out of Ella.
Slightly dubious WiFi intermittently. For us we might’ve been better situated in Ella for various reasons but this is on us not the property.

This was my second time staying with Planters Bungalow. The establishment is first rate. Rooms and facilities are fantastic. Close enough to Ella to get to things easily but far enough away to be tranquil and unhurried.
Food selection was minimal and it the same over many days. Expensive dinner dishes featuring meat or fish were overcooked and tough. However these are not Sri Lankan dishes so I shouldn’t hold them to such high standards…..

Prachtig gelegen accommodatie met mooi uitzicht. Mooie huisjes en prima restaurant met pooltafel. Verder een volleybal of badminton net.
Gordijnen waren niet donker genoeg voor in de ochtend, vroeg wakker dus!
Breakfast was lovely - served outside with stunning views. Fruit platter followed by eggs served as you chose, bacon and sausages, toast, coconut parathas and mini pancakes. Coffee and tea. Just a great way to start the day.

Mooi nieuw gebouw als receptie, wij zaten in een bungalow met 4 personen. Het was groot, schoon en netjes. Het was her en der iets verouderd. Personeel was super! Ontbijt serveren ze uit, persoonlijk vind ik dat minder prettig, omdat er vaak veel te veel komt en er veel overblijft.
Voor ons was de locatie te afgelegen. Alhoewel we dit wisten, was het 20 minuten naar Ella.
We had such a wonderful stay at Ella Planters Bungalow. The service was exceptional — everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help with anything we needed.
The variety of food and drinks available was amazing, and the quality was even better. We honestly had some of the best meals we’ve eaten during our time in Sri Lanka. Every dish was delicious and made the experience even more special.
The bungalow is located about a 20-minute drive outside of Ella town, which we loved because it gives you the perfect escape from the busyness. Surrounded by nature, it’s peaceful, quiet, and you truly feel immersed in the beauty of Sri Lanka.
We would highly recommend Ella Planters Bungalow to anyone looking for a relaxing stay, incredible food, and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality.
This hotel is beautiful. We were kindly offered an upgraded room, and even though our original room was also lovely, we took the upgrade as it was even more spacious and had an incredible view over the mountains. We absolutely loved the breakfasts, friendly staff and great service. The pool is lovely and there are so many great seating areas around the hotel. It's a little away from Ella but we'll worth the 20 minute drive past the Ravana waterfall. The hotel has a tuk tuk that can pick you up from the train or drop you into town for a small fee. We had a really delicious meal in the upstairs restaurant area too.

We chose this hotel on a friend's recommendation, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the very moment we arrived, everything was delightful – the warm welcome, the elegant atmosphere, and attention to every little detail.
The room was spotlessly clean, spacious, and beautifully decorated, but the real star was the surroundings. The nature here is absolutely fantastic – lush greenery, bright flowers, and breathtaking views. What we remembered most was the birdsong in the mornings – a true symphony of chirping, trills, and melodic voices. It was so pleasant to have breakfast outside while listening to those birds – it was real therapy for the soul.
The staff were incredibly friendly and did everything to make us feel at home. Breakfasts were a real treat: fresh, varied, and very tasty.
Honestly, every moment of our stay was wonderful – from check-in to check-out. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort, charm, stunning nature, and the sweetest birdsong – this is it. We're already planning to come back!

L’hôtel est situé dans une ancienne maison de planteur britannique. Bungalow signifie en fait maison ici. Quelques chambres dans l’ancienne maison , très agréables; et quelques chambres dans des parties récentes avec une superbe vue sur la vallée. Le personnel nombreux par rapport au nombre de chambres est très serviable et attentionné. La piscine est agréable en fin de journée. La salle de restaurant est également bien décorée avec un billard. Le jardin en terrasse est assez agréable également.
L’hôtel est situé à 30 min de Ella (route de montagne) : l’avantage est qu’il est au calme loin de l’agitation du centre de Ella. Il y a une mosquée juste à côté que l’on entend vers 5 heures du matin. On s’y habitue … ou pas, Il vous en coûtera 7500 roupies , en passant par l’hôtel, pour un aller-retour en voiture pour y passer la soirée, ce qui est assez cher. Le petit déjeuner est bon mais compte tenu du nombre limité de chambre, il est imposé sans choix possible.

Dieser Ausblick!! Wir haben es genossen. Und der Dschungel-Pool war auch sehr angenehm. Frühstück und Abendessen waren seeehr lecker. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir kommen gerne wieder - vielen Dank an alle!
