Really friendly staff
Location
Nothing
Great location, the restaurant was excellent. Lovely atmosphere.
I was in room 26, which is a single room on the ground floor. Apparently some of the family rooms have been upgraded and are excellent but my room was certainly not. The downstairs needs a refurb - it’s worlds apart from the restaurant!
Good location. Nice bar.
The walls are a little thin - I had to ask the next room to lower their voices around midnight.
Room/bathroom was clean and bed was comfy.
Customer service could’ve been better - on arrival we were quoted the balance for the room and after payment went through we were handed our key and told to go down the corridor. That was all the communication we received. The dog friendly room was quite small for two plus a dog and it was incredibly hot. There were a pair of old socks remaining on the radiator in the room when we got there. Also, you had to run the cold water tap for quite a while before it would turn from really hot to cold.
The location was fantastic for local tourist spots like puzzlewood, symonds yat and mallards pike. The staff were very helpful and the clubhouse garden is a lovely setting to enjoy a drink and meal.
The night time noise. This is a busy golf club. We stayed on a warm night- no air con or fans in the room and so had to have the window open. This meant hearing noise from the clubhouse until the early hours as well as the sprinkler system and what sounded like jet washing throughout the night. It also meant being disturbed again at 6:30am by golf buggies and cars zooming past the window on the gravel roadway outside. Unfortunately on top of that the rooms aren’t soundproof and we were landed with very noisy neighbours who were chatting until 2am and then snoring loudly.
The receptionist and the restaurant supervisor was friendly, polite and attentive. The breakfast was a good quality and tasty offering. The parking and surroundings are stunning. The exterior, bar, restaurant and reception very tidy. Very close to the main amenities of Coleford. The bed was comfortable.
It was so warm, with out fan or air con. My partner was forced to seek the only bit of cool she could find - on the floor....
When we opened the bed room door we were instantly hit with the warm temperature which far exceeded safe limits. We were shocked by how small the room was, obviously a single person room with a massive double bed and over hanging TV which was far to large for the small room. The bed side draws were so small it took me back to when I was 3 and played with a toy kitchen - it was that low and small. Then there was the large cobweb in the wardrobe, lack of iron facilities, lack of room information about the hotel and very very hot water coming out of the cold water tap!!!!. Although there was a sign up, I do wonder if it is within legal limits for normal plumbing and water regs. Very dangerous potentially.
Room very clean and comfortable Access to gym .Very good meal
Nothing to dislike
The comfortable beds.
Could hear other guests during the night/ early hours.Lack of sound insulation in the room and corridors.
Clean, friendly helpful staff, dog friendly, great location.
The hairdryer was very temperamental but this was a very minor part of the stay.
Good location for us as only 5mins from where our mum lives - which is the reason for our stay. Close to the town and the grounds of the hotel are pleasant. Clubhouse is nice - drinks are quite pricey but on par with other hotels. Decent breakfast considering it was included in price.
Bedrooms are basic, bathroom could do with a refit. Bed was quite hard, rooms not very soundproof, was woken at 5.30am by some loud tapping / banging that went on for ages. Receptionist polite enough but not overly welcoming. But it was £97 for the night with breakfast, so get what you pay for. We knew we weren’t getting luxury and only book it because it’s somewhere to sleep while visiting family and cheap.
The accommodation was perfect. Loads of parking. The room was amazing value for money, and all the furnishings were modern and well maintained. The clubhouse for food and drink was open from early till late and very pleasant with lots of locals using the hospitality.
So glad we chose to stay here. Really met our needs for an overnight stop over.
Thanks for having us.
No issues.
Nice big room and friendly staff
You can hear other people in connecting rooms and the breakfast choice wasn't great unless you wanted a fry up.
Good value, clean, convenient location, friendly staff.
No air con or fan in room. It was probably the hottest day of the year.
Location was good for me
Quite expensive and not that clean. Had to plug aerial lead back in to TV and there was a very thick layer of dust behind it.
Everything else was clean though.
Very good.
