We were in room 418, it was quite noisy due to a fan vibration noise, we mentioned it to the receptionist in the hope that we could be moved. I knew there was an alternative room available, however the receptionist didn’t get back to me in regards to a room move despite saying she’d look into it.
All of the staff were very polite, but it wasn’t as expected from what we’d originally considered to be the premier hotel in the area.
All in all a nice hotel, but there are some super simple ways to improve ready for the taking which will elevate the entire experience!
No coffee machine in the room; super easy win to get a more premium feel!
Poor communication from staff, in respect of a room change request.
Also, spa charged at £25 extra - pop it on the room rate if you’re going to market yourself as a spa hotel.
No guidance on getting changed for the spa, hotel guests aren’t allowed to use the spa changing rooms - we were on the 4th floor, went to the spa, only to be told we weren’t allowed to use the rooms so had to go back up 5 floors from the spa basement to get changed.. not a huge problem, but not as slick as it should be!
Breakfast coffee is poor too, definitely needs to have a barista and a proper coffee machine to improve guest experience for a relatively low cost.
Clean and comfy, staff were polite
Breakfast would have been excellent except for when we had nearly eaten asked for a latte which took 40 minutes and mentioned to 3 different staff members
Bedroom spacious and tastefully decorated.
Bathroom sparkling clean and Elemis products. Bath and shower.
Thought £40 pp was a bit expensive for access to pool area, steam room, sauna etc.
Lack of parking spaces
We liked the property and have stopped there a few years ago beautiful setting .
Paying an extra 25pound each for the Spa wasn’t planned for on what was our Anniversary as that used to be free with this expensive hotel . Also on the night we stayed and paid for the Spa the thermal pool was closed off with ropes and the aroma room wasn’t working .valet parking cost 30 pound so we left our car in hailstones and rain up the road for free .spirits were very expensive in the bar .when we arrived even though I’d prepaid with booking.com a week before they couldn’t find my booking embarrassed we waited while the lady phoned her supervisor and found our booking I had told them on booking form it was our 37 yr anniversary oh well when we did get to room it was lovely with macaroons and card and message
Lovely room. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in a hotel. The spa is fabulous
Parking is rubbish. We were offered valet parking at £30 a day. Don’t think so. So we have to move the car quite a distance to park on street. I could not use my champneys gift voucher for some weird reason. Dinner is very expensive. £30 main courses. V expensive wine £40 a bottle seemed the no
Husbands birthday.
Absolutely couldn't fault staff and service.
Beautiful property of course and facilities were amazing
When lying in my bed overnight, because the windows are single glazed, the cold air flowed down, even with the window shut, over my face! There were no blackout curtains to stop this and so it was also bright light at 5 o’clock in the morning at sunrise. Not acceptable. I also write to Customer Services and have not had a reply which I’m very disappointed by.
Great location.
Loved the decadence of the hotel
.
Location
It certainly wasn’t what I expected for a five star rating. The room was okay. I had to request the sheet be replaced as it had a hole in it. The back of the bathroom door was in need of a clean from all the hands that have been closing it. On our third night we had to remake the bed. We had requested a blanket the day before so the following day it looked like a child had made the bed as basically the top cover had been pulled over to cover everything without straightening anything underneath. It certainly wasn’t what I expected to see when I pulled the covers back and everything was as we had gotten out of bed.
Beautiful hotel , very clean, great location and great service . Spa facilities were amazing and breakfast was good quality too. Could barely hear a sound from the rooms. Bathroom in room also really good, great water pressure. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly . Towels / robes very soft . Spa cafe was added bonus. Town was so lovely ; a hidden gem.
We travelled all the way 3.5 hours to experience the thermal pool but it was out of order, which was incredibly disappointing. The spa is very expensive and as it’s the most popular facility I think hotel should reduce the cost of spa when not working .
I also lost a bracelet and they called me to say they had found it but charge £15 post it. Thought this was strange when stamp and enveloped £2 at most .
Very good staff brilliant food very good
Poorly trained restaurant staff , dire food . Zero atmosphere . Reception could not make you less welcome if they tried
No atmosphere , sterile no pictures flowers monotone walls.
Beautiful room
Some staff fantastic ( bar staff were excellent ) but reception slow and breakfast service poor with rude staff
Very long waits to even sit down
Money we paid would have expected better
The hotel had a wonderful location the view from the room wasn’t the best but the room was lovely
