Pros:

The Breakfast offering was delectable and provided much variety, whilst the accommodation location was quite advantageous in the sense that it is right within the Shopping Centre premises.

Cons:

The Check-In and Check-Out time were a bit problematic given our scheduled flights (i.e. arrival and departure) were earlier/later, so it was a very exhaustive wait.

Pros:

Helaas viel ons verblijf bij Astara Hotel erg tegen. Voor de prijs die je voor dit hotel betaalt, vinden wij de kwaliteit absoluut onvoldoende.

We reizen regelmatig door Azië en zijn inmiddels echt wel wat gewend. We verwachten absoluut niet dat hotels hier aan dezelfde standaard voldoen als in Europa. Het probleem met Astara Hotel is juist dat de prijs wél wordt gevraagd alsof je die standaard mag verwachten.

De kamers zijn verouderd en vochtig, met schimmelvorming als gevolg. Op beide kamers kon de balkondeur niet op slot; de sloten waren zichtbaar verroest. De kamers waren niet schoon en tot onze schrik zat er schimmel in het beddengoed. Dat vinden wij echt onacceptabel.

Daarnaast vonden we de sfeer in het hotel erg vreemd. Er hing een onaangename, onbehagelijke sfeer, waardoor we ons er niet prettig voelden.

Ook het bijgelegen zwembad was ronduit vies. Het water zag er groen en onhygiënisch uit en de glijbanen en andere voorzieningen waren sterk verouderd en slecht onderhouden. Het geheel zag er zo vies uit dat wij het absoluut niet aandurfden om in het zwembad te zwemmen.

Al met al vinden wij Astara Hotel veel te duur voor wat je ervoor krijgt. De staat van de kamers, het beschimmelde beddengoed, het zwembad, de hygiëne en de onaangename sfeer vinden wij simpelweg niet passen bij de prijs die voor dit hotel wordt gevraagd.

Close to aquaboom and biggest malls n bfast was awesome.

Cons:

Dirty ventilation. Smelly. Back of sofa dirty. Aircond froze at 2am woke us all up. Inside kettle rusty.

I like staying in Balaikpapan but would consider a differernt hotel due to this time around.
Pros:

The breakfast was fine, i would have liked to see freshly squeezed orange juice as concentrate juice is not what customers want to see. Coffee was great though and staff really nice.

Cons:

The room, it felt dirty and dated. the bathroom cleanliness was dissapointing, green mould at the back of the sink tap, shower cubicle Tile grout in the shower area is stained and requires deep cleaning plus stainless fixings ar corroding if cleaned properly they do not corrod. I found parts of the furniture and fixings to be either chipped, damaged and dated. There was a large ball of hair underneath the luggage rack and also it was covered in termites which is also not good as it indicates they are living and eating away at the furniture. It is a nice hotel but really needs more attention to maintenance and overall presence. The mall is lovely, clean and well kept if the hotel rooms reflected the same standards you would happily recommend to others.

Pros:

The room is ok. Big for 2 people. And the view is nice which is looking at sea.
The aircond was ok.
The tv channel is good.
Best thing is the food was so good. So many choices.

Overall not bad at all.

Cons:

Need to renew the bathroom . Its like an old place.
Need to do cleaning more properly like maybe sweep or vacuum the floor since l still can see rubbish.
Also need the renew the towel ( please)

great hotel, but it's clear management has neglected it for a bit
Pros:

TThe breakfast was the best I have ever had at a hotel.
It is a perfect area for us to be in the city (as tourists), and they were very accommodating for travellers who are passing through. The room was really nice, and considering the overall experience, the price was very fair.
The slides are genuinely as fun as they look, and the pool area adds a really unique touch to the hotel experience. A small bit of maintenance—like a fresh coat of paint or smoothing out some of the pipes—would make them even better, but overall they’re great fun.

Cons:

The pool is quite unique for a hotel, and this is where the “but” comes in, as it was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel, especially with the live waterslides and having a day before our flight to enjoy it. The slides were supposed to be open from 10 AM to 6 PM (which was confirmed at check-in and by signs near the slides). On the day we had planned to just enjoy the slides and pool (given I am a child at heart), one of the slides was broken (no big deal), but then the two most impressive ones were closed inexplicably from 12 to 3 PM (given that they are open from 10AM to 6 PM, a big window)
Given that this was the whole purpose of the stay, this was quite disappointing. Especially when addressing several staff members about the opening hours not matching reality, it became clear there was staff present, but they did not seem willing to operate the particular two slides. This made me feel quite uncomfortable when asking about it, as they were all sitting together on their phones.
It may be that working hours are difficult or the pay is not sufficient to motivate them, so I am not judging the staff personally but rather the hotel setup. Although everyone was generally friendly.
Also, they rent cabanas, which I don’t mind at all—people enjoying extra luxury is fine. However, two cabanas had all the double tubes stored in them and did not allow anyone else to use them, even though they were just lying there. This again seemed like something the staff should have noticed, especially since some slides require double tubes.
