Bed
Breakfast could be improved. Not well organised in layout and poor choices.
The location is great - it has a lot of (unmet) potential.
It needs a lot of love. They have an article framed about the French football team staying here in ‘96 and it looks like not a lot was done since then. Rooms feel outdated, wait times in the restaurant are very long (and staff pretty much ignores you), breakfast buffet runs out of pastries and other items at 8:00. Again: lot of potential but currently it does not live up to the claims (and price).
Fantastic location with lovely river views. The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was very good. I also ordered the packed lunch which was great.
The first view of the hotel as you approach over the road bridge. Beautiful setting on the banks of the North Tyne, expansive garden running down to the river bank.
Two good car parks, the setting of the hotel perfect.
The hotel is very 'tired' on closer inspection. The gardens totally neglected with dead or dying plants in poorly prepared flower beds.
Peeling paint all over the exterior, old and tatty exterior
begging for investment and some basic maintenance.
Torn and ripped bedding in our room, this gloriously positioned hotel is begging for some care and attention.
Location was perfect for our needs as we were walking hadrians wall. The hotel is a very short detour from the trail. There is a lovely beer garden along the river and some people were swimming from their little dock.
The room was very dated and walls thin, could hear neighbours talking and watching TV in their rooms. Our room had a view onto the very old and run down greenhouse and leisure centre which didnt look great.
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice
The menu . It was a bar menu and we expected more in the restaurant
Friendly staff; good breakfasts; great location for Hadrian's Wall walking.
Slightly chaotic - lost our restaurant booking but found us a table.
Location
Staff needed more training and lack of choice on evening menu
Great location for walking the wall. Swimming in the river.
Some small refinements missing that, given the class of hotel, jarred a bit.
Location. Room. Most of the staff
Breakfast. Loads of items not available. Staff seemed unable or unwilling to resolve.
All very good thank you.
Long waiting time for food and nothing left in breakfast room.
