Lovely setting.....but hugely disappointing
Pros:

Set in stunning rural surroundings.
Junior staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The photos on the website do not reflect reality.
The main issue is that having booked in a 4* hotel and looking forward to spending time away, it was then hugely disappointing to discover that the room was in effect at best only 2*.
It was not in the main building but in an annexe out the back, through an unlit area.
The 'scenic view' was of an extraction unit.
Access was via a steep, narrow, and frankly dangerous stairway. The double room was tiny and very tired.
The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. The pillows were so flat. Pipes were repeatedly banging through the night.
There was surprisingly no wardrobe, only old, worn units. The TV was very basic with limited channels. Two lights didn't work....they had no bulbs!
The bathroom was terrible. The decor needed updating. Only mixer tapes, with fluctuating hot/cold water, that you couldn't stand for a shower, unless short, due to the sloping ceiling. The toilet seat didn't fit. The toilet paper was cheap. Even the toiletries were a cheap version of those pictured on the website.
Evening meal took an eternity and was awful. Sauces were offered, and when they arrived, both bottles were empty. You couldn't make it up.
Breakfast was equally uninspiring.
Allowances can be made for an older building with character, but this wasn't the case as so many issues were fundamental and could/should have been corrected quickly if there was the will.
No sleep. No shower. Poor food.

Enjoyable stay with excellent food.
Pros:

The Inn is an interesting old building set in attractive countryside. The staff were welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal. Breakfast was also very good, cooked to order with a range of options to choose from. I enjoyed scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. I would stay again if spending time in that area in the future.

I can't think of anything.

To describe this Inn as 4 stars is a joke.
Pros:

The reception, bar and restaurant staff were very friendly.

Cons:

The outside of the property was a building site and part of the sign had fallen off.
Inside bore no resemblance to the photos on this website.
Our bedroom was tiny, the bed was awful and there was no soap for the bathroom.
For dinner I ordered tuna and ratatouille and was given tuna with lettuce, potatoes and beetroot!
Breakfast was meagre and overcooked.

We had a great few days at Amberley Inn and would stay there again.
Pros:

Great location with good access to all places in the Cotswolds and right by the wonderful common where the cows and horses roam free during the summer. Lovely old building, lovely beer garden around the property. Breakfast was well presented and very tasty. Good choice of items with the full English. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room. Pleasant and helpful staff, thank you to the lovely Jennifer in the dining room, who was very attentive at breakfast! Dog friendly!

Cons:

Room a bit dated, but clean and tidy. Dining room was quite small and felt a bit overcrowded when all the tables were in use at breakfast.

Absolutely Disgusting
Pros:

The pub is set in lovely rural surroundings with beautiful walks on the doorstep .

Cons:

Sadly we were so disappointed the room was filthy dirty, mould on pillows, Dirty smelly carpets and bathroom floor. No soap or hand wash in the bathroom. Cannot stand in the bath to have a shower as it has a sloping roof.

Location was excellent, lovely views. Lovely buildings. Pub was very good and very clean. Staff were really nice. Breakfast was excellent. Shop nearby in the church was really nice.

Cons:

There was nowhere to hang clothes in the bedroom or the bathroom. As there was not room for a wardrobe some hooks on the walls and doors would be very useful to hang clothes on. Every thing else was very good.

Disappointing stay.

The staff were very nice, friendly, and welcoming, which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, there were several issues with the property and room that made our stay disappointing.

The property does not have proper stair-free access, and my parents had to climb two flights of stairs with heavy luggage to reach the room. This was not mentioned anywhere in the hotel description, which would have been important information to know in advance.

The room was also not properly cleaned. There were hairs everywhere, including on the bed sheets and pillow covers, which made us question whether the room had been cleaned properly after the previous guests.

The rooms were very basic, and no fans were provided. The suite became extremely hot and uncomfortable, particularly at night.

Overall, while the staff were friendly and helpful, the cleanliness, accessibility, and lack of basic amenities made this a disappointing stay.
