Comfortable hotel in a beautiful countryside location
Pros:

Calm hotel.
Helpful personnel. Love Scottish people !
Close to chanonry point.
Comfortable beds
We sighted dolphins in the nearby sea

Cons:

The toilet flush make such a strange noise for a few seconds every time, it sounds like a demons burp 😀

The Staff

Cons:

Worn old and tired, need updating and decorating, is marketed as being quirky but is actually grotty. All sorts of awards on display, however lates dates from 2009. If we hadn’t of pre-paid wouldn’t have stayed.

It took us 24 hours to buy into the character of the hotel, but we did!!
Pros:

Breakfasts were the highlight of the stay
Beds were super comfy
Lovely bed linen - bathroom spotless
Very welcoming staff
Owner was vey engaging character

Cons:

External appearance of hotel was very off putting - needing a very deep clean, paint was peeling off external walls, some windows were the worse for ware.

Der Ort wird uns nicht wiedersehen
Pros:

Unser erster Eindruck von außen war erschreckend. Was haben wir gebucht?
Innen dunkel, uralt (was auch einen gewissen Charme hat, das Alte).
Im Zimmer war es kalt, mussten die Heizung erst mal bis zum Anschlag drehen. Das Hotel ist auch das einzige Restaurant am Ort. Was wir nicht wußten und eine Reservierung abgelehnt haben. Frühstück war okay und der Burger am nächsten Abend lecker.

Cons:

Klebende Tische, Sauberkeit allgemein, abgenutzte Einrichtung.

Wir kamen am Anreisetag um ca. 13.00 h an. Betreten des Hotels erst ab 16.00 h möglich. Das äußere Erscheinungsbild war erschreckend und hatte rein gar nichts mit dem auf Booking.com veröffentlichten Bild gemeinsam. Insgesamt schmutzig, abbröckelnde Farbe, teils geöffnete Fenster aus denen abgeranzte Gardinen wehten. Gerne hätten wir uns den Zustand innerhalb angeschaut, aber wie gesagt, vor 16.00 h war das Betreten nicht möglich und wir wollten so lange nicht warten, um dann eine eventuelle Entscheidung zur einer neuen Buchung zu fällen. Leider haben wir es versäumt Bilder zu machen, aber dieser Zustand wird auch weiteren Gästen auffallen.

A Happy Place

So much to love about The Anderson's unique character & experience, it's a bit tired & clunky but well loved... that's the deal.

Jim the Boss & the team's quirky, relaxed laser focused service & individuality, comfy kip, excellent menu & bar offerings to refuel the weary, all made the stay super delightful...it's an absolute gem 💎.

PS maybe not for precious princesses & peeps 😉 👻

A perfect stopover on NC500 road trip.
Pros:

Wonderful host and friendly helpful staff. Individual character hotel. Enormous selections of drinks including own brand locally brewed beer. Large food portions. Comfy bed.

Cons:

Pillows. Some early morning road noise from local traffic.
