Only average.
Pros:

Friendly and welcoming. Lovely staff. and the pub itself has lots of character. Evening meal was very nice.

Cons:

Room was okay. Very warm you cannot open downstairs windows. Only window that could be opened was mezzanine bedroom. Room dark and was tired. Bathroom tiny shower good but water hot then cold then hot. Just did not think it was worth the money. Breakfast from ordering to the table was well over half an hour not acceptable. When it came eggs can bacon well over done.

Pleasurable.
Pros:

Good location. Easy parking. Very good food. Nicely decorated rooms.

Cons:

The seating in the restaurant seemed to favour the hotel rather than the dinners. With only 6 bookings all the dinners were seated in a small area adjacent to a fully open window, treating them to traffic noise and fumes. The same situation at breakfast, all in one area with lorry and tractor noise and fumes. Other more suitable tables empty.

Pros:

Much Wenlock itself is a pretty 14th Century Medieaval town which retains some lovely buildings & Wenlock Priory..
Slightly disappointing stay at the Gaskell Arms hence the ratings.

Cons:

The young lady who showed us to our room couldn't unlock the entrance door to our accommodation ,it was only from a foot shove that we got the door open.
2 things immediately hit me..the state of the carpet on entering & the fausty smell to the room .
With hindsight we should have asked to be moved but we were staying for 1 night.
My thoughts were easy to rectiy, a simple air freshner/ reed diffuser & new carpet.
As a dog freindly hotel I'm not sure whether the previous occupants had been dog owners or whether it just smelt fausty.
The breakfast was advertised as 8- 11 so think we got there before 10.30 but felt rushed to make our ' hot food' choices & when breakfast arrived my partner's toast was burnt & the sausage was just shy of overcooked. A little disappointing.
When we returned to our room there was a puddle of water on the carpet & water dripping from above . I went immediately to report it but there appeared to be no urgency despite my saying there was a pool of water behind the TV [ water & electrics) and water still dripping.
When we checked out they did apologise for the leak, which I appreciate can happen any time, but there just seems to be a real lack of care to be honest..
Such a shame as the pub itself is a lovely building & stands proudly as you enter the town .

Good location for reaching most parts of Shropshire.
Pros:

Good breakfast, goog choice.

Cons:

Location is on main road and traffic was a little noisy.
Having said that, it did reduce significantly at night and I slept well.

Pros:

Best pasta dish I've ever had in the UK.

Cons:

Bike storage wasn't ultra secure, but I suppose safe enough in a locked beer garden in a sleepy village. They were still there in the morning so can't complain

Excellent value for money. Great food.
Pros:

Thought I'd booked just a room, turned out to be a little mews house without a kitchen. Absolutely loved it.

Cons:

Nothing.

Lovely old inn
Pros:

Lovely old inn which has been nicely refurbished.
Our room was nicely decorated with a comfortable kingsize bed and an enormous bathroom (would have been useful to have a towel rail near the bath and shower).
A good pub menu and a lovely big garden to enjoy the sunshine.

Cons:

Our room was directly over the kitchen which had an extremely noisy extractor fan - on until 9pm and again from 7.15am

Would suggest confirming the location of your room when booking as it was very very noisy.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at The Gaskell Arms.
Pros:

The room was very clean and comfortable. The shower looked new, and I understand the hotel had a bit of spruce up, whist still maintaining its character. The breakfast and evening meal was excellent. There is a lovely garden, which was great in this recent hot weather. All the staff were friendly, and looked after me well.

Cons:

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about The Gaskell Arms.

Lots of positives but could do even better with a little more attention to detail
Pros:

The hotel is well placed in a very interesting historic town with some good shops.
Lots of history and good walks in the area.
There is a good car park off a busy road.
The hotel has been renovated in keeping with its historic past. A lovely beer garden.
Staff were generally helpful in resolving issues with our room.
The bed was comfortable and there was a fridge with water provided which was much appreciated in the hot weather.
It was a gloomy room which meant it was cool during the hot weather so an advantage.
The food was well prepared and there was quite a choice. Cooked breakfast provided choice and was very satisfactory.

Cons:

Have stayed here several times but this time in a room outside the hotel that does not feature in any pictures.
We were informed that was all that was available at that price.
The carpet was quite stained and we were informed it had been cleaned but it was rather off putting.
Our uncertainty about the room seemed to prejudice breakfast service as we were treated somewhat brusquely in the morning which was rather unwelcoming. There was no plain yoghurt and my inquiry gained a sharp reply. This is the first time I have ever had to make a somewhat negative comment about this hotel as we have always felt very welcomed and been impressed by the staff here. On leaving we felt disappointed despite the positives.
