Edgar was an amazing host! He shared tips on the area, has direct numbers for great drivers, and was always available for questions. A lovely property back from the main street for quiet nights but still super close to tons of food and the launchas to explore the lake area. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!

Hotel Makani exceeded expectations in all the right ways. The beds were comfortable and the hot water was consistent regardless of the time of day, which made a noticeable difference after long days of exploring.
The location is a real highlight: far enough from the main street to stay quiet, yet still walkable to the public beach, shops, and restaurants. It’s that sweet spot that’s hard to find.

The front desk attendant was genuinely helpful and went above and beyond. He connected us to a private ferry service that gave us the flexibility to hop between towns and return to Panajachel after 9 PM, which opened up our itinerary considerably. The hotel also offers unlimited filtered water for the entire stay (somewhere around 15 to 25 quetzales), a small touch that made a big difference.

I was concerned about the lack of A/C but the rooms actually managed to stay comfortable through the night plus there was a fan.

WiFi worked perfectly- was able to do some work before heading out to explore the town.

Cons:

Waking up to a rooster on a few mornings.

Room got quite hot at night - but the fan helped somewhat. They didn’t empty waste paper basket in our room which would have been preferable.

Okay, needs improvement.
Pros:

The location of this hotel is down a side street with a lot of empty houses. Did not feel safe. The staff gave a ticket for breakfast at a hotel 5-10
Minutes walk away. The breakfast was really good!

Cons:

Need more lighting, hooks, and side tables in the room. Need more hooks in the bathroom. Was very cramped.
