The bedroom was dated, shower was cold, bed very very soft and it was really very noisy - very loud music until early hours!!

Noise, location next to wetherspoons unfortunate

The noise, our room was at the back of the property - backing onto Wetherspoons and a nightclub! I went to reception in the early hours of Sunday morning to ask if we could move rooms the following day but unfortunately the hotel was full. I booked the hotel prior to the feedback informing about the noise problem. The alley below our window stores the beer kegs from Wetherspoons and they also empty their glass bottles there. The bins are emptied around 5am and the street sweeper comes through shortly afterwards! With World Cup also on at the same time, we had a very disturbed few nights.

Had to ask for clean towels. Toiletries were not replenished

Amenities are basic (e.g no tissues available). The TV had an old cable which was open (dangerous).

Overall great hotel had a lovely time going back next year

Inflexibility

Building and facilities are a bit dated, especially the sash windows which let in a lot of noise

Room is a bit dated, not really’boutique’. The shower wasn’t great. Water pressure based and would slow or stop completely mid shower.

Next door to a Wetherspoons so was extremely noisy especially on Saturday night when England match had played having sea view room didn’t get much sleep also didn’t like the breakfast eggs !! Overdone !!

Nothing apart from our view of building work but we didn’t mention anything as we was to busy enjoying ourselves

It's not a criticism of the Hotel, but there is a Weather spoons behind that is noisy and seemed to open very late.

It was very noisy. A busy Weatherspoons next door, a noisy main road in front and a huge construction site at the side! Non of which we were pre warned about.
The standard of housekeeping was poor. The reception area (doorway and lift lobby) were not cleaned daily and small pieces of litter remained for several days.
The landing on the second floor had unpleasant looking marks and again the area was not vacuumed during our stay.
Our room and en suite looked clean overall but there was a layer of dust on the shelf of the bedside unit. On the last morning when I checked that there was nothing left under the bed, I found a chocolate wrapper and piece of plastic razor that were not ours!
General maintenance and attention to detail was lacking.
e.g. the bathroom window (a heavy sash) will not stay open and had to be wedged open with a toilet roll.
Extractor fan doesn’t work.
Heated towel rail brackets were broken.
Window handle on middle sash window in sitting area loose.
There is nowhere to hang a hand towel near the basin. A hook or rail could be fitted to the basin unit.
A hairdryer is provided but there is no electric socket near a mirror

We had cold water only in the shower. I complained 3 times but it was not resolved. They offered to change room when it was too late. Also , towels were not replaced despite leaving them on the sink area. Finally , free bottled water was not replenished during our stay.
