Parkwood Hotel

On arrival I went to the toilet and the toilet holder fell off the wall
Went through the door into the bedroom which had a Fire Door sticker on it and the bottom hinge was loose and it seemed as if I opened and closed it much more it would completely fall off into the room
The shower was made in a converted cupboard and had no extractor fan in it. The shower bracket was falling off the wall.
Because there was no fan in the shower the bedroom was damp
The TV was through the internet and kept on buffering so you could not watch a complete program. I suspect they had no TV licence.
The paintwork was shoddy with Yale locks painted over instead of being removed and the doors repaired
The carpet had water stains from people getting out of the shower to dry themselves
We paid for the room for 4 nights including breakfast
Payment was taken on 10 Sept 2026
on 13 Sept 2026 - 1 day before arrival recd an email saying the could not provide breakfast and it would be at The Lancaster Hotel
On 14 Sept 2026 when we arrived they said The Lancaster Hotel was about 15 Min walk away ie approx 1 mile
That meant 1 mile each way for breakfast 2 miles walk - NOT ACCEPTABLE
We were advised we would get a refund - NOT RECD YET
We tried to get a breakfast near the hotel but it was all Turkish or foreign
On our return journey to Jersey we had breakfast at Heathrow
For myself and my Wife we had 2 coffees and 2 English breakfasts
No Orange Juice, No Cereal, No bakery.
The cost was £52.80
As we stayed at the Parkwood for 4 nights
That totals £52.80 x 4 = £211.20

I will attempt to attach a copy of the receipt for the breakfast from Airport Retail Enterprises LHR The Globe.

It feels very run down and zero money has been spent on it. Breakfast was neant to be included but apparently it has changed hands and they dont offer it any more, they only refunded $10

Building is in need of repairs
Rooms are tiny
Stairs are steep

De dag van aankomst ontvingen we een bericht dat het hotel was overgenomen en dat het nieuwe management had besloten het ontbijt (dat inbegrepen was, en voor ons de reden was om dit hotel te boeken) te schrappen uit het aanbod. Wel werd gezorgd voor een alternatief: ontbijt in een ander hotel. Dit was 20 minuten lopen vanaf Parkwood! Gelukkig hadden wij huurfietsen tot onze beschikking, waardoor het minder ver was (op de eerste dag na). Het ontbijt was basic. Engels ontbijt met wat voorgebakken croissants/chocoladebroodjes en fabrieksbrood. Verwacht geen verse yoghurt en fruit.

Het hotel is ooit prachtig geweest (zie foto's voor details), maar is ontzettend verouderd. Versleten en smoezelige vloerbedekking, sierkussens, gordijnen enz. Het bed was niet erg comfortabel: kleine tweepersoons, waarbij ik op de vering lag, wat pijnlijk was. Er was een patio bij de kamer, maar ook daar waren de meubels te oud om op te kunnen zitten, waardoor de patio geen echte toevoeging was. De douche had heerlijk warm water (belangrijk!), maar de douchekop viel bijna van het versleten haakje. Alles gewoon net te oud. Mijn advies aan de nieuwe eigenaren: eerst investeren in een goede renovatie! Dan is het ook niet erg om £950 te moeten betalen voor 5 nachten...

W dniu przyjazdu okazało sie, że śniadanie (wliczone w cene) nie będzie serwowane, bo jest zmiana wlaściciela i odbywa sie remont pomieszczenia.
Hotel odwiedzaliśmy regularnie 2 razy do roku, ale po zmianie właściciela już do niego nie wrócmy.

Het hotel zag er op de foto's luxer uit dan in het echt. In realiteit was het een beetje vergane glorie, waar een opknapbeurt zeker veel kan uithalen. Hoewel de kamer klein was, was het allemaal opzich prima. Wel jammer was dat online stond dat de optie voor ontbijt er was, wat in realiteit niet waar bleek.

Habitación muy vieja, ducha incómoda metido junto a la cama pero separado del resto del baño.

Gammelt. Dårlige faciliteter. Den ene seng var ved at falde fra hinanden. Vægge og gulve bar præg af at være meget gamle og lidt beskidte.

the general state of the building was dirty and neglected.
The carpet in the main entrance area was dirty, there needed to be a vast amount of redecoration, the paintwork was in a very bad state.
The stairs were very steep, very narrow and circular.
We were on the top fourth floor with no lift.
My friend has asthma. It was a struggle.
No help with anything.
I am surprised it conformed to H & S REGULATIONS.
I was relieved we were only staying 1 night.
If a fire had broken out, we wouldnt have had a chance.
One of the lights in the bedroom flickered off and on all night.
It disturbed our sleep. The caretaker said he didnt have the tools to fix it.
We were told shortly beforehand that breakfast wouldmt be avaialble on site, as planned.

When I booked, breakfast was included. When I arrived I was informed there was new management and they'd closed the kitchen at The Parkwood. Please bear in mind I would have paid for the breakfast in the overall bill. In compensation I was offered either a late check-out or breakfast in a property 15 to 20 minutes away. Late check-out is just annoying. I had to be at St Pancras station to catch a train by 9 am. Parkwood management would have known a late check-out offer was unlikely to be accepted. Re going to the other place for breakfast: come on! I average walking 18 kilometres a day in London, yes I've measured it. Do you think I want to start my day by walking 15 minutes in the wrong direction for a breakfast I'd booked to eat on the premises of Parkwood Hotel? No! A small refund would have been fair and appropriate. A measly 20 pounds refund would have been enough to earn my loyalty but no.
My room wasn't cleaned the day before I was due to leave and I found a long, coarse hair on the sink. Not my hair.
Finally, the staff were very nice but I asked if a taxi could be called to take me to the station. In the past Parkwood Hotel has had contact with reliable drivers. I was told to call an uber or just go down to the main road and hail a taxi. I'm not using my mobile phone. I'm from Australia. Every time I use my mobile my telco charges me $12. The final detail: it was raining.

Omgjøring kvelden før ankomst til at det likevel ikke var frokost pga. nye drivere. Litt vel knirkete dører og senger. Minus for vask i gangen og ikke på badet.

Hôtel vétuste , pas de produit de toilette dans la salle de bain.
Le petit déjeuner était compris dans la chambre, mais à prendre dans un autre hôtel à 25mn à pied.

Att de avbokade frukosten på hotellet. Vi blev erbjudna att gå 20 minuter enkel väg och äta frukost på ett annat hotell

Should of been told well in advance about the change of ownership and that breakfast was in a different hotel
