Beautiful and tasteful restoration
Nothing
Insanely good, the design, the furniture the architecture it is all sublime.
I would just be nit picking!
Beautiful location, beautiful views, grounds and lovely decor inside and out, in all areas. Lovely appointed rooms. Reception staff excellent, very professional and helpful, nothing was too much trouble
The bar and restaurant staff were very slow! We ordered drinks on the terrace and it took 35 mins to receive them and they weren’t complicated, 2 beers 1 wine and tonic water! The same was the same for the evening restaurant experience, slow service for both drinks and food.
Great location, lovely room with outdoor seating. Fab gardens. We also hired the private dining room for dinner with 10 friends and everything was excellent
Spa was restricted to 4.30-6.30 which didn't work for us, also £35pp.
The Marquis has beautiful modern facilities. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast and lunch were both of a high standard. John behind the bar was friendly and helpful.
Check in after 4pm and out by 11am is quite restrictive. Staff service was erratic - our waiter at breakfast was having a bad day and confused most of our order. Reception staff were brusque at best. On such a hot day it was very disappointing that we had no use of the pool facilities - apparently these are only for those who book treatments, which is unusual - given no one was using the pool this was frustrating. For what we paid (nearly £300) it also felt a bit much that breakfast was additional.
Breakfast choice was excellent
Staff were courteous and efficient
Room was comfortable quiet and well chilled on arrival
Stairs and access through many doorways to get to bar and restaurant although the modified building was a mixture of heritage and tastefully created complementary modifications
Nice location with air conditioned rooms
Thought the menu choices were a bit limited
Dripping water on dining table due to AC
Room was expensive with cost of breakfast excluded.
Lovely location, rooms are beautifully decorated, very clean. Food is excellent. Good wine list. Spa is excellent.
Water pressure is low in the rooms. Shower isnt strong at all. You have to pay extra to use the pool and sauna. If you are a guest and you are paying for the spa as well, this comes across as really cheap. Just add it to the room price and allocate us a time slot. Really disappointing. The restaurant staff outside aren’t attentive at all. Example; i asked if they have any beers on draft, the response was “let me check”. She never came back. I asked again 15mins later. She forgot. It’s easier to get a beer in Saudi Arabia than on your sun drenched terrace. Last point is the check out. Loads of people waiting. One poor lady trying to answer the phone. Two women walked past to the office. One asked if we were ok. We said we were waiting to check out. She then just walked away. I am assuming that was the manager….
Really peaceful, great menu for food
In Suite 10 didn’t feel so private as on terrace
It is not clear from the booking information that you cannot access the pool (indoor or outdoor) during the day as this is reserved for non-hotel guests that have bought spa packages.
There is also no where else outside to sit and relax outside of the spa.
Everything was just perfect -Rooms were wonderful. Exceptional finesse and highly recommended for the most wonderful stay! The breakfast was beautifully cooked and well presented. Amazing grounds. Lovely staff
Nothing to complain about.
Refurbished to a very high standard
Having to pay for use of pool
The breakfast was Good, the dinner was very good.
With good breakfast and evening meal a choice of light bar snacks would have been nice.
Great location, friendly and professional staff, everything was well maintained and comfortable.
Nothing
Beautiful location surrounded with countryside. The room and bathroom were so big and comfortable and staff were very friendly.
The pool is for adults only, which was a shame for us as we had our eight year old daughter.
